It does seem that they have a script on ITV1. When being interviewed on ITV2 they were much more natural and very funny.
I have thought they were not so good at times this year. Perhaps the producer/director needs to let them get on with it. Let them ad lib, that's what they do best.

Of course they're scipted on ITV1! Can you imagine the chaos if they were left to adlib in the main show??

The presence of two writers on the end credits might also alert you to the fact they have scriptwriters.

I think the've been HILARIOUS this year, best they've been for a very long time and that's the result of their own natural rapport, wit, humour and talent conbined with good writers.

Why change a winning formula?

They are very very sexist pigs if they use just male writers
