People complained purely on the basis that he was Joe Swash.

I was too tired from complaining that he survived a single eviction.

I "complained" ie was a bit annoyed for like a minute when Dougie won last year.

You soon get over it.

They didn't complain because Joe Swash (despite being the worst actor in Eastenders) was actually TV gold while he was in the bush! He was a deserved winner - and even if he hadn't been in Eastenders - I think he did enough in camp to make him win regardless.

That's another thing I'll pick up on. I'm sure the eating trials were a lot harder a few years back! Didn't they have to eat the whole witchety grub in the past (bite its head off then eat the lot) Charlie only had to eat the head once she'd bitten it off! Ashley's eating trial wasn't much more trying either.

Think we watched different series that year.

I'm sure Charlie had to eat everything but the head, its just the way she bit into the grub that caused her to lose half the body.

Before his appearance as a campmate on IAC (when he was best known as the worst actor on EE - a feat that is hard to do - given the crassness of his co-stars) and after (with his appearance on IACGMOOHN) I'd agree with you. But during that one series - as an entertaining and contributing campmate he was a deserving winner (although personally I'd have loved it if George would have won).

As I don't watch EE,I didn't know who Joe was, but I didn't like him whilst his was in the jungle, and didn't want him to win. My feelings on him haven't changed.

Little did they know that years down the line he would now be irritating the living daylights out of the majority on the spin-off show, in hindsight they would have got rid at the first opportunity.

I can agree with this. He was actually mostly likable on the show, which is in complete contrast to virtually everything he has done before and after it!
