Ant & Dec said that the lead had swapped. So Ashley was winning. She is American, but people are ignoring she was topping it. Charlie came across better in the show tonight.

Yes, I am pleased someone started a thread saying this. Makes a mockery of us Brits not voting for Americans.

I liked Ashley, but for some reason I felt that she became slightly annoying once it was down to the final 3 - can't put my finger on what it was. Pleased that Charlie won, but felt that there were probably quite a few contenders this year, as, on the whole, they were a nice bunch.

Charlie got more votes - is that such a shock, She is a popular actress on one of our top soaps?

Seriously people - the reason Ashley didn't win was not because the voters are anti American. They just liked Charlie more.

And please - it really doesn't matter anyway as its just a 'notional' prize. Its not as if there is a £1m record or modelling contract at stake. Its just a bit of fun!

Charlie's over the top reactions to the BTT won it for her. Simples.

Ant and Dec said that the vote lead changed hands after the show opened.

The finals of reality shows get a big boost of viewers who tune in just to watch the final. With IAC we could be talking about nearly a million over the usual ratings.

So when these new viewers tune in they're going to vote based on what they see mainly in the final.
They are familiar with Charlie. They know who she is.
They probably might not know who Ashley is.
People tend to go along with what they feel familiar with.

So I can see in this circumstance how being a British contestant could be a big advantage.

Don't forget that Ant and Dec said the vote leader changed hands after the show opened. Which does support my theory if most people supported Ashley before the final was broadcast.
Doesn't prove it, but it does support it.
