I thought he was "okay" - but here's the problem, rarely has someone who is okay/competent annoyed me so much.
He was wobbly at the beginning and sounded off key when singing "when I am down..", in fact it sounded as if the key was pitched too low for him. He also kept singing "You raise me up/To more than I can be", after the "Stand on mountains" line where he should have sung "You raise me up/To Walk on Stormy Seas" and he did this twice!
He was in tune for most of the song, but shouted/belted far too much.
THIS is how the song should be sung:

I just thought he looked too orange. Freshly crisped from the tanning salon.

As for the song, well, it was all a bit shouty wasn't it. Not my cup of tea.

Wow, how did Rydian not win that year.

I thought Chris did a great job with it. It was the best performance of the night. Yes, I think Rhydian's version is better but this is a very, very bad year and none of the final four are anything special. I still think that Chris is the best singer in the competition this year, though there have been many better in previous years.

I have no idea. Rhydian should have won imo

I think he did a good job, it's a hard song to sing and he did it justice.

I thought it was lovely. I would definitely buy an album recorded by Christopher.

Agree with you. Definitely best performance of the night. Chris should be so proud of himself.

Me too, I'd be first in the queue. I really was so impressed with that song.

the good news - it was better than his second song

the bad news - it couldn't have been worse

No idea Leon had some good weeks (particularly You Dont Know Me and Home, IIRC) but Rhydian should have won that year, imo. But things turned out well for Rhyd in the end
Rhydian's YRMU was much better than Chris'.
At least YRMU was better than Chris' second song though.

The key was wrong for him, and he struggled pretty much throughout.

I was so nervous for him as I knew it was a difficult one but he really did it justice as you said. Massive congrats to Chris. I like him more every time I see him.

Thats what I thought. Particularly at the start its clear he isnt a baritone a la Rhydian.

is it on you tube yet

are you saying he sang the wrong words on purpose or he simply made a mistake , or made the song easier to sing

Either that or you need to consult a hearing clinic

Yeah its on Youtube - search for "Christopher You raise me up", or something
I think he just made a mistake, rather than making it easier per se, so he went 'You raise me up so I can stand on mountains/You raise me up to more than I can be/I am strong...." etc, it was making the mistake twice I found odd. After "on mountains" it should be "you raise me up to walk on stormy seas".

Nicole is right. Lack of emotion. Malooney is just a robot who can belt within a limited range. I have yet to hear him sing a falsetto note when pushed to a higher range.

It was dire, and just because he sang a sang a song that Josh Groban sang, does not in any way put I'm I that league. Christopher is No Josh Groban. He has ruined that song for me forever.

Chris sang it very well and doesn't need all this falsetto nonsense

Rhydian shows how to sing the song in a way that it actually means something.
