I think Chris sang it well - he has a decent enough voice.
But it was emotionless.
There was no meaning to the words at all.
I find that with everything he sings - it's all emotionless and boring.
I agree and that's why I don't think he's a good singer. There is no emotion, no passion, no storytelling. He just booms out the words in a cabaret style with absolutely no thought of what the lyrics mean.

Chris has a decent voice, even if he is not my cup of tea, but, God, I really hate that dreary old song. If I never hear it again, it will be too soon. Anyone who sings this song in one of these competitions is out, as far as I am concerned.

I really do agree with you on this

It was brilliant, but obviously nothing on Westlife's version.

I think he's really well suited to the ballads, he's got a good voice and hits every note perfectly.

It was doubly annoying him singing Raise Me Up cos then Louis went on and on and ON about flaming Westlife. He needs to remember that Westlife were just a group who sang everyone else's songs. He wants everything he touches to be Westloif Westloif Westloif. Shut up!

I prefer Josh Grobin singing that a million times over not that boyband. Sadly it's been tainted cos that boyband covered it and spoilt it.

Secret Garden/Brian Kennedy sang it first, then it was in fact Josh Groban who popularised the song in the same year as the Brian Kennedy version, not flaming Westlife

what did you think to his second song ?
I can't say that I liked it to be honest. To be fair, Micheal Bouble is not my cup of tea anyway. Christopher didn't seem comfortable with it and it seemed like he was forcing the upbeat side.

I think Louis was right when he said that Christopher had a good career ahead of him in musicals - he does have a good voice, and he can hold a tune but for me there is just something missing, my attention just wanders when he is on.

On the other hand Rylan, who did not have such a good voice kept my attention and I really enjoyed his performances. He was what he was and didn't pretend to be anything else, I think that's why I liked him.

He's technically very good but then that just demonstrates technical perfection isn't all that. Give me a rough and ready voices like James and the sometimes hit and miss of Jahmene any day. I believe them but I don't even believe Chris even when he isn't singing.

I don't think Chris will ever be in the charts but who knows. He may be able to make a living in West End musicals and low end cabaret. I think his biggest problem with the former is whether or not he can act a character.
Ps I think he showed his limits with the Michael Buble song - it was a suspiciously bad song choice for him. Hmmm...

I like James and Christopher. I think Christopher has shown himself to be a great singer. I loved his "You Raise Me Up" but thought his IJHMYY was Hus worst performance and I was looking forward to it.

It all sounds very mechanical when he sings, going through the motions.. He has a good voice but i feel no connection to him when he sings. I prefer someone who connects to the lyrics

Rhydian's version is much better but Chris gave his best perfomance ever and is the best singer on the show.

I just don't like his performances. I don't have a taste for belters and he doesn't really connect with the lyrics. Just lets rip!

I would buy it. He is a great singer. You need to be at least 35 to appreciate his voice.

Sorry, haven't read the whole thread so apologies if someone else has already made this point, but, as someone said on a different thread last week, there is no 'light and shade' in Christopher's performances, they're always the same, same tone, same volume, same 'oomph' all the way through. Name any song, and you know exactly how he will sing it.

I don't like him, but thought he did ooookaaaay with this song, but it was just the same all the way through.

xx

Without doubt the greatest performance in X Factory history.

Nothing comes close.
apart from his other efforts in this competition
