  • I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!
Who surprised you most this series?

For me Ashley. I've mentioned elsewhere on here i thought she'd be out in the first 3, but she really surprised me and i think many other viewers.

I thought she'd be the typical ditsy blonde popstar who thinks she's something special and caught up in her own importance, but was the complete opposite, nobody had a bad word to say about her and she seems a genuinely nice person.

Will post more later. Bed awaits.

Yep. Would have been nice if she could have topped it by winning.

Going from favourite to be first out to winner would have been quite something.

Oh well, she did great. Shame the Eastender factor/xenophobia/Kiki factor was just too big.

One person who did not surprise me is David Haye. He's the exact same person as he was when doing interviews during his boxing career (putting aside the theatrical promo stunts that every boxer does) - he's somewhere amongst arrogance, confidence and smugness - I just can't tell which one, and this is the reason I never drew to him as a boxer.

Are most boxers not a mixture of those 3 things though?

Ashley, thought she'd be the one Helen turned out to be, rather than my favourite.

David really takes the smugness to another level.

I'd like to see him participate in intellectual challeneges as this would've taken him down a peg or two

Brian, I thought that he'd win.

Although to be fair to him by the sound of it he really should not have been there.

Otherwise Ashley and Hugo- I did not know who either of them were but by their descriptions alone I'd have pegged them for being boring and a couple of the first evictions. Instead I loved them both.

Also, pleasantly surprised by how much Eric amused me.

Least surprised by Colin - always knew he was a lovely man
and David was pretty much how I expected him to be too.

Ant & Dec...

& Myself.

I was really surprised how tough it was. I feel I've really learned a lot and my life will never be the same. I've made loads of friends; conquered many of my biggest fears; persevered; overcome the expected and the unexpected challenges, each and every one.

I feel I've been on A Journey. You can't take that away from me. I've already won.

Charlie. A total bore managing to win. Thought she'd have gone days ago.

Ashley and Hugo - neither I thought I would like, both I ended up loving.

Technically that's the public, unless you expected Charlie to be good value.

For me it was Helen I thought she would have been more down to earth and not like her character in Corrie.

Three surprises for me:

Helen I thought (no idea why) that she would be nothing like her character in Corrie.

David I didn't like as when I've seen him on other shows, he's a bit arrogant and distant and too fond of showing the fist. I ended up really liking him.

Biggest surprise of all was Ashley. I don't tend to like that kind of music (and I had to fight the urge to put inverted commas around the word music) and just the name of her band is, to me, vomit inducing. I thought she'd be a typical blonde, airheaded bimbo who would do nothing but flaunt her body and squeal - how wrong was that assumtion!

Helen.

I wasn't expecting much from her, but didn't think she would be such a silly, precious, pouting, vain self-absorbed baby.

On a positive note though, you weren't disappointed then

Only that Ashley didn't win.

It was a great final though, credit to them both.

Rosemary. Who would have thought she could be such a giggler? I've only ever seen her in 'Ladette to Lady' and had the impression she was very cold and "old school". Not a bit of it!

I thought she was a breath of fresh air. She just sparkled from head to foot.

Ashley and Hugo. At the start I wouldn't have thought they would have been two of my favourites this series. I liked how Ashley took everything in her stride, and I liked her positive attitude. Hugo took a while to accept the situation he was in, but once he did I liked how he handled things particularly Rosemary's attitude towards him and Eric failing to win his letter, and I he was a figher too. I liked his determination to get the last star in the water tank.

I didn't have high expectations of Helen, but wow, she surprised me by how selfish someone can be, which was kind of jaw-dropping. I also have no idea how someone with so little life skills and common sense could survive. Her world is completely alien to me.

David and Ashley. David was a complete gent, fair and funny. He came across as a genuinely nice caring guy and didn't even attempt to flirt with the one hottie in there Ashley.

Ashley was charming a lovely girl with balls and a lust for life. She also seemed very caring and sweet and shes pretty as a picture as well.

I wasn't surprised by Helen at all. I expected her to be a whiney spoilt brat and she was.

Ashley, I did not have a clue who she was at the start and on finding out she was an ex Pussycatdoll I was not expecting the quite charming down to earth girl next door personality that emerged.

Charlie, I am pretty sure I had seen Charlie in a TV programme with Jack Osbourne where Osbourne challenged Celebrities, In this particular episode Charlie and Jody Latham, to partake in various extreme sports. Charlie was game for anything and was bubbly and fun whereas Latham turned out to be a real wimp and bottled out of everything to the extent that in the last task he locked himself in an office and refused to be filmed or speak to the crew.
I have tried to look it up on her IMDB page but it is not listed so maybe I dreamt it.
I had this preconception of her in my mind and so I expected great things from her and I must admit that I was a bit disappointed that she did not live up-to my expectations.

Brian, somewhat surprised by how he turned out but on reading his back-story and his battle with depression somewhat less surprised.

Most of the other celebrities pretty much lived up-to my preconceived notions of them.

Eric was boorish and ill mannered who justifies his rudeness as telling the truth.

Helen exactly as her Coronation Street character and provided further proof to my notion that a lot of the actors in soaps are not really actors but people who just act themselves on screen with a different name.

Linda pleasant enough but a struggling actress desperate for a gig so prepared to go into the jungle and sit on her behind and get paid until she gets told to go home and hopefully has jogged some casting director's memory that she is still alive.

Colin, same as Linda.

Hugo, never heard of him before and do not expect to hear much of him in the future.

Nadine self centred publicity seeking politician, nothing new there then, Lembit Opik in drag.

David, sportsman approaching the last days of his professional sporting career keen to create a good impression to improve his future career prospects in another field.

Rosemary not particularly attractive large posh woman who spends her life looking down and shouting orders at people in a kitchen goes into a jungle to look down on and shout orders at people.

Long forgotten pop star from the eighties who funnily enough I have forgotten.
