I think a reason Charlie won aswell is because of Eastenders, most of the Enders fans would have voted for her!

Going by that logic, if Eastenders fans were voting for Charlie then surely Corrie fans were voting for Helen? But Helen went out quite early on.

I have to say that everyone I know that watches did not want an American to win and I think that went for most viewers. I think Charlie was a poor substitute though. David woz robbed!

This. Why are people so desperate to try and explain away the fact that Charlie won? The idea that people were sitting there saying to each other how much they liked Ashley more than Charlie but were voting for Charlie because she is British is frankly ridiculous.
I actually think what bumped Charlies votes was her doing the eating trial. She had a much harder time of it than Ashley, physically shaking, but she finished it all. They were both great but Charlie was amazing. |

She won because she is british thats all, people voted for her to make sure an american could not take the title. Ashley was far more enteraining and a much nicer person she should of won.
Your comment shows your bitterness at having your preferred candidate beaten to second place and displays a fundamental misunderstanding of what motivates people in general. Double fail. |

And I have to say that everyone I knew who watched it, wanted Ashley to win. The fact that her being an American wasn't even a factor or even mentioned.
Amoung my friends David, Charlie, Hugo and Colin were the favourites. |

I knew people who liked Ashley but not as a winner. The main criticisms were that she was not considerate, liked the sound of her own voice ( she even talked all the way through Charlie's final interview ) and was a bit too flirty. Nothing to do with her nationality.
Amoung my friends David, Charlie, Hugo and Colin were the favourites. All of these observations are true, for me. I preferred Charlie from the start - apparently because I'm jellus innit

She got the most votes.
.We can all have opinions as to why the person should have one or not and come up with conspiricy theories, but this is the reason she won same as every other winner. But I bet some idiots will !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

According to the press even the other celebs say it was the Kiki factor that won it for Charlie, hell even Charlie herself says Kiki won it for her

I liked Hugo, David and Charlie more than Ashley. I don't see how Ashely would have been such an obvious winner had she been British, it's not like she was the most entertaining contestant ever.

ITV didn't want American winner as the Xenophobes would go mental.

She was a deserving winner, but Ashley came across really well

More people who voted shared my opinion than yours. it doesn't make me right or you wrong. It just means people have varying tastes. I wouldnt be on here making comments to undermine Ash if she had won, I thought she was great and would have been quite happy for her to win. So what does that reveal? |

And can you give an intelligent rational explanation why ITV would mind who came out with the most votes? |

American people who find their way onto British TV are normally completely alien to how we've found Americans to actually be. It was nice to see someone who was actually familiar to our experiences of a countries people. |
