(apologies for poor typing- slipped on ice anf fractured my shoulder on sunday. it makes typing awkward))

i think you're entitled to feel the emotions you feel. people can get emotionally involved with things and feel strong emotions. some people are devastated when england get knocked out of the world cup- personally, i couldn't give a stuff. however, i was devastated when amy winehouse died, even though i didn't actually know her personally- i just felt very involved in her struggle with substance addiction, and was willing her to recover. i guess that if you feel an emotional resonance with a person or situation, it's natural to have strong feelings about them.

personally, i felt disappointed on saturday- (not a reflection on charlie- no sour grapes here!) as I really wanted ashley to win, but next day i was fine with it. but i don't think there's any shame in feeling deeper emotions, including feeling devastated.

Very good post. You're right. If we didn't feel some emotional involvement, it wouldn't be that interesting to watch.

Hope your shoulder soon gets better.
