Hi, I am currently with T-mobile and i am fed up with their poor mobile internet speeds (currently between 1-3 meg on my HTC one x), thinking of moving to 3 and checking out their new DC-HSPA+ service but what android phones are compatible for this signal??

1-3meg on the one x. that sounds like a congestion (or speed cap t-mobile/ee have yet to confess) your phone is hspa+ so should get between 7-15Mbps on average depending on network conditions. Getting a DC-HSPA device wont help your speed problems

ow and btw, t-mobile has dc-hspa.

Most of the 4G phones support DC-HSPA+ such as the HTC One XL and the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE or ofcoarse the Nexus 4.

Neither 3, Vodafone or O2 currently offer LTE equipped phones.

DC-HSPA is available on one of the 3 USB dongles and one of the Sony Xperia handsets. There is at least one other available now but the range is limited.

Yeah on the three website it shows the I phone 5 and Xperia T are compatible was wondering if there is more choice of phones available to get these speeds

In reality the higher speed probably won't make a huge difference. Although DC-HSPA has a spec of 42Mbps 3 themselves state that users will get a maximum of somewhere around half that rate which is more than enough for several HD streams simultaneously.

DC would be nice to have but it's not something that would be top of my list for phone specs. Lots of regulars on DS have posted results of between 16 and 20Mbps with HSPA+ 21 on 3 and that would be more than sufficient for my needs if I was able to achieve it.

I agree, I'm yet to see anyone reporting speeds over 20ish on DC-HSDPA (DC-HSPA+..) with Three.

The most I've seen is 23mbps on three. I'll try to find the link.

Nexus 4
Xperia T
IPhond 5
Galaxy s3 lte
Galaxy note 2 lte
Lumia 900/920

Maybe a few others but nothing that's widely avaliable

I was meaning that phones that support LTE on some bands such as the iPhone 5 will also support DC-HSPA+.

T-mobile slow down connections once you reach fair use policy.I have basic internet on sim only.

Before fair use= 9mb
Once fup is reached= 2mb (& no app store/Youtube etc)

Are you sure it's not Orange that are giving you 'the terrible web speeds?'

Sadly there is no evidence on this speedtest result to which network was being used.

At less than 50 miles from the test server in London it could have been O2's experimental LTE or EE's LTE, or O2 or Vodafone's DC-HSPA+

I'm afraid the word cellular is not enough to attribute it to any particular network operator.

I prefer to screenshot the screen by pressing the 2 buttons together on my S3, if you pull the notification bar down then I can show what network it was on.

This is HSPA+, no doubt if my phone supported DC-HSPA it would be faster, as you would get allocated 2x5 of bandwidth instead of 1x5.

Bloody hell wave, if you need proof then here is the link. Title is a bit misleading as the throttling aspect of trafficsense for users on the one plan is over and has been for some time now

Regardless of the source there is no evidence that the result detailed on the speedtest posted came from any particular mobile network. All that can be proved is that it came from a mobile network within the London area as no network is identified on the actual test result.

It is posted in a thread about Three and that member has Three listed as their network in their profile.

I don't think it is unreasonable to draw conclusions which network was used for the test from that.

Not unreasonable, but neither is it conclusive proof that the result was obtained using any particular network.

Had there been evidence of a network ID or an IP address the result would be without question.

Whatever man, if you're really this skeptical then why don't you join xda and pm the guy and ask him to do a speedtest on his phone, then take a pic of it with a famous uk landmark behind him with the date and time written on a piece of paper.

Or will you say that would have been photoshopped...

Besides if you read through the thread the guy posts numerous times about how he's in three and gets good speeds and lives near a mast and has a nexus 4 on the one plab
