I do think they'll just leave us hanging at a moment where you could think it's about to happen, but it doesn't. Or a misunderstanding will occur, something. But they're trying to keep what the chat leads to shrouded in implication, when it's really helping lead to the reunion.

I just see too much evidence to the contrary of them doing the tired soapy thing.

And them seeing each other again in the village thing was speculation, but in the mag where it said 'who'll help Brendan tackle his problems?' or something to that effect, would have had to be spoilery.
