HDMI Feed

Hi gang. I'm still having some difficulties with after reconnecting my AV receiver (Onkyo TX-SR309) to my new tv (Panasonic Viera TX-L42ET5.

I use the HDMI connections on the receiver to connect back to the tv for my Vigin box

My main problem now seems to be not being able to gain any re-connection after switching the Virgin box off (overnight etc) Eg...Receiver off, Virgin box on, tv switched to HDMI 2. Result no picture or sound. The only way I can get the Virgin box to re-connect is to switch the receiver on until the picture appears. Reciever can then be switched off without any ill effects as long as Virgin box stays switched on. Then its back to square one.

I'm not sure if the problem lies with the tv or the receiver but I never had this issue with my old set.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Cheers

sounds like the receiver is faulty. Is it still under warranty?

I suspect it is something to do with handshaking between the various bits of kit. The Virgin box might not be able to communicate properly with the TV while the receiver is switched off.

If it worked with another TV but does not work with the new TV then chances are it is the new TV as that is the only thing that has changed.

I agree with you Chris. I've by-passed the receiver now and connested the Virgin box straight to HDMI and with an optical lead I can get some decent sound.

I've contacted Onkyo about it but have heard nothing yet.

If decent sound is important to you why are you not using the amp at all times anyway?
