I agree, I was gobsmacked with her outburst as I know lots of ppl were but I didn't ring up to complain, I was too busy voting for Steve I did consider emaling them after the show had finished but I was so elated that he won I let it go. Just because 300 ppl rang up to complain, it doesn't mean that a lot more ppl weren't equally as apalled!!

300 is actually a very high number. It is rare to get more complaints than that.

No - not in this household anyway.

Sharon can only be seen to be entertaining when she has control of the production (like in the Osbourne reality shows) ... we only see what SHE wants us to see then.

I respect Sharon for having the balls to air her opinions. It would be a big loss to the second series if she isn't part of it. I'd much rather Louis Walsh was replaced - he adds nothing to the show except an annoyingly camp nervous twitch.

I'm more appalled at your laziness. Only 4 more keystrokes per word would get rid of the annoying text speak!

The acts on the show provoke extreme reactions from the viewers - either for or against - so no doubt the 300 who called were irate that their darling Steve was criticised, OR irate that their darling G4 were going to suffer as a result of sympathy voting for Steve.

As a performer, Steve bored me senseless but I found the eye-rolling and attitude towards any negative comment arrogant in the extreme. However, it must have given him SO much satisfaction to know he had got to Sharon so much that she lost it on live TV and I do agree that she was way over the top. If she'd just stuck with her initial comments about how she hadn't liked him at all and then kept quiet, it would have been much more effective.

I'd like to see her back next year - she is entertaining, and at the end of the day we do not watch the show for the judges, we watch, presumably, for the acts so why is there SO much emphasis on the gruesome threesome.

Or the converse. And should that be a reason for getting rid of her? That 300 people complained out of nearly 10 million? These shows trade partially on the judges saying outrageous things. Wasn't Nina Myskow on New Faces equally vilified?

I used to work with someone who typed everything in capitals because he was too lazy to use the shift key!

I'd be very surprised if they were simply Steve or G4 fans.

I for one was simply trying to bloke out her comments in order to enjoy the final.

i would imagine that the majority were simply people who'd tuned in to watch the programme and were totally horrified to see someone's final night attempted to be sabotaged like that.

300 is a high number. The majority of people I for one have never complained.i wouldn't even know who to complain to.So they went out of their way to do so.

She deserves to be sacked she thought she was bigger than the show first with the refusing to vote when louis had to and then her hatred and jealously of steve, she said everybody in the competion felt the same as her, I haven't heard anyone else slagging him off except her team, its a free country she is entitled not to like steve if that is how she feels but as a judge she should not have been so personal and vicious and deliberately try to ruin his chances, good ridence the only fake is her

Which may mean they are serial complainers.

I don't think Steve is very talented and I don't like G4's style which is why I didn't watch the final but I fully accept that I didn't see Sharon in full flow so she may really have overstepped the mark.

I never really understand what people mean when they say 'fake' anyway. It's just a generalised insult with no real content, I feel.

I think Simon should have sacked her when she refused to choose who to send home. Louis managed to do it, ok it must be very hard, but she was far too personally involved and could not step back and make a professional decision.

I don't particularly like Steve that much... he seems like a nice guy but I don't like his music. However, both him and Simon worked very hard and deserved to be in the final I feel. Sharon's outburst was totally uncalled for, she wanted to make a scene so she could be centre of attention. I think she was jealous at not having an act in the final. Why couldn't she just say "Steve, I don't like you as a person and we've had words, but you sang that well, lets see what the public think" ?

If Sharon is back for series 2, it may put me off watching it. I'd like to see Foxy or Pete Waterman... or whatshisname from fame academy?

I'd honestly rather have Louis Walsh than Pete Waterman. I probably wouldn't watch it.

It really was a tirade of verbal abuse, and I've never seen anything like it on this sort of show before - it was the sort of thing you might expect in a personal argument that had broken out after a few drinks at a party. Totally unprofessional and out of order.

Yes, I'm a Steve fan, but I know I would have been equally appalled if she had reacted in this way to any of the other acts. I was just gobsmacked.

I don't think she should be invited back, I know she says she just speaks her mind and that is why Simon asked her to be a judge in the first place, but she doesn't know when she's gone too far. Speaking your mind about someone's talent is one thing, but hurling personal insults at someone on live tv, in the middle of what could be one of the most important moments of his life is completely unacceptable in my opnion.

You need to see it to actually believe what actually happened. It was just so unexpected and surreal.
It wouldn't matter who she'd said it to.it was unbelievable.

Sharon Osbourne seems to be getting (organising?) a fair bit of publicity from her stint on X Factor. As she doesn't strike me as someone who isn't always in control, could there be something in the offing for the tribe here on UK TV?

They are apparently planning on spending more time here; her US chat show came to an end...

Simon Cowell would have known exactly what he was getting when he booked her for the show, so he'd have assessed the 'risk' of an outburst.

Oh well, time will tell (but it's fun speculating)

My money's still on her for outlasting Steve though.

PS for Kimindex - she went to great lengths to quantify what she meant by 'fake' - you really need to see it though to draw your own conclusions! It'll no doubt be on again - no moves yet from anyone to blank it

I think I'm going to have accept that the weight of evidence is against her. I wish I'd seen it now! Dammit!

Interesting. Her profile is indeed very high and, if she is in it next year, the viewing figures may be higher and people will be interested in whatever next she does even more than they would have been. You may be right.

When they do show it though each time there's always a bit left out.Usually the bit that really upset Steve the most ,about his girlfriend.

Personally, I thought she was superb! Never skipped a beat and looked as if she was thoroughly enjoying it.

(but you get into trouble for saying that on here )

She reminded me of Natalie Appleton when she did her outburst against Sophie Anderton in Celebrity - it started off as a mild rant and then took on a life of its own with her voice getting higher and higher.
I reckon after Simon has had time to think about whether he is going to invite her back (and thus give time for a discussion about the programme to continue longer than would be usual) he will decide to give her another chance - there was so much publicity surrounding her that people who didn't watch this series will watch next time in case something similar happens again.

Unfortunately, I think you are probably right but I really hope that Simon doesn't decide to bring Sharon back again.

Can someone tell me what Kate did during and after the outburst? What happened? Thanks!

She did nothing but I think, to be fair to her, she was probably getting instructions in her ear to tell her not to say a thing and let the woman continue to hang herself. Good telly.
The camera was on Sharon during the rant and on Steve looking totally bemused after it and you could hear Simon saying, that's enough now or something like that.
