Just 7.7 million viewers last night, and the show isn't very good either. Serves him right for ditching the UK show for the USA - and taking Cheryl with him.

Well it's not surprising. Nobody wants to watch chris or union j and the judges comments same old same old. So people just youtube jahmene and james arthur.( talking about those who did not watch)

Just watched show on Sky+.... crikey it was dull, I get the feeling if it wasn't riding on the coat-tails of "I'm a Celebtrity" for past couple of weeks I reckon viewing figs would have been even lower. I'll bung it on tonight at 8:45 to see who's going but frankly I don't actually care....
One thing, I'm puzzled how anybody thinks presence of carton-chracters like Simon and Chezza would make a jot of difference to this turgid and elongated mess????

I think Rylan leaving will have something to do with it- i watched but was sitting there rather bored, and was waiting for it to finish so that i could watch the Im a Celeb final!

I'll be watching the results show tonight because i want to see the performances from the guests, but it's missing fun now!! I enjoyed last nights xtra factor a lot more than the main show.

Next year's series WILL BE THE LAST! We don't want this crap anymore, when will ITV and Cowell concede that it is time to give it the axe?

It might be that replacing it with something else - Family Fortunes? - would get even fewer ratings.

It is 'fewer' or 'less'?

I think "lower" would be better than either "fewer" or "less"

Less is not as much

Fewer is not as many and used when items can be counted on their own.

So in that case i would think it is "fewer"

But don't ITV pay £millions to Syco for it? I dunno the numbers but I presume it has to be smashing the ratings just to turn a small profit. Something like Family Fortunes would cost ITV a fraction of what XFactor does and still probably pull-in 6/7 million viewers. There's no business sense in lining Cowell's pockets just to get a few hundred thousand more viewers than Family Fortunes would get.
I often wonder how many viewers Dynamo Magician Impossible would get on prime-time ITV Saturday night... loads I reckon but ITV seem stuck in a rut of formulaic blandness for Saturday nights.

ITV should bring back 3-2-1 and Dusty Bin.

The x factor just needs to be made into something else, its the same old same old, sob stories 'shock' eliminations, judges comments are the same.

I recorded the X factor yesterday and watched it in 20 mintues, I dont care about the chat etc etc.

This is what I do. Fast forward all the pretend bitching and moaning crap from the judges and just watch the performances.

The result show is watched in 10 minutes if the guest performers are not my cup of tea.

Best thing he ever did was to quit the show and take Ms Cole with him.

Worst thing he ever did was to do that and leave us with the sorry mob we have now.
I would say except Gary Barlow, who ought to know better, but unfortunately has proved otherwise.

Rich.

At the moment its got a captive audience - freezing cold outside, post Christmas shopping, prime spot after Strictly.

It should be pulling them in. The fact that it is not speaks volumes.

There is no knowing if it would have been the same story. I get the feeling that the judges probably don't have much input into who is chosen for the show despite all the bootcamp\judges houses nonsense.
