Basically not much separating him Chris & Union J.

So what i'd say is this.

Surely those who actually like him, there are a lot. Should vote for him whether they think he'd do better without the show or not. Because ideally as a platform the x-factor final would be a great showpiece and if you believe in such talent.

It seems to be the case James has the most fans, yet half his fans do not even want him to win, and the other half don't vote.

Where as Chris has a limited number of fans but they are hardcore voters.

Also regionally, James was touting himself as a Northerner and asking also Scottish people to vote for him. When reality is he is from a small town and not a proper Geordie so regionally he is cast aside a bit.

Where as again Chris has the mighty voters of Liverpool.

Maybe James is in trouble tonight. Union J still favorites to go, but sources/odds indicating it is very close between all 3.

Piffle. Liverpudlians have been on here time and again to say they're not voting for the idiot and nor is anyone they know. They're mostly embarrassed by him. It's his nan sitting on re-dial voting for him!

I think it will be close between Chris, James and Union J as well. Union J and Chris have strong demographic voting behind them, which is why I think James may struggle.

James does annoy me a bit when he says things like he's different than other X-Factor acts and that he doesn't really fit on the show, but I think he could be right in the fact that he's very marmite. Now we're down to the last few acts the marmite acts always struggle as they don't pick up the key floating voters.

The other 3 remaining, Jahmene/Chris/Union J, are all pretty standard acts in comparison.
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he went out next.

If Contestant X come from City Y the judges always say "Everyone from City Y will/should be voting for Contestant X"

The OP is suggesting that James was representing himself as coming from a particular place in order to get the regional vote

I'm going to start voting voted twice already going to vote more really don't want him to leave.
The final will be boring if he's gone.

1. Where have you heard these 'whispers'?
2. Are you saying Jahmene is leading the votes? Doubting that considering the reports about Chris leading every week...

Last night after the show it was in betfred

Union J 4/6
Chris 13/8
Jahmene 10/1
James 12/1

Now it's

Union J 4/5
Chris 3/1
James 4/1

It is evidently very close.

Oh I don't normally check that site .
This one http://www.paddypower.com/bet/tv-spe...grp_ids=520329 seems more reliable but it has James vs Union J .

Union J
4/5
Christopher Maloney
15/8
James Arthur
6/1
Jahmene Douglas
14/1

Whoa whoa

He has NEVER NEVER promoted himself as a geordie. He is a Teessider not a Geordie. He'd hate that. He is a smoggy through and through. Geordie? Wash your mouth out NOW!

Can't say I'm really surprised. I've had a feeling he might be struggling in the votes for the last few weeks.

Could the over the top praise and standing ovation last night have been from a group of people who knew he was in trouble and at serious risk of not making the final?

He's already been in the bottom 2 once, so it's out of him and Union J imo.

Exactly. Middlesbrough a small town? The town of Chris Rea, Paul Rodgers, David Coverdale, Paul Smith (Maximo Park), Amelia Lillie and Journey South. Throw in Captain James Cook, Brian Clough, Paul Daniels, Roy Chubby Brown and Wendy Richard and you have a massive beating heart of a town.

OK Paul Daniels is pushing it a bit
