I think people are confusing 'corned beef' (aka a traditional corned beef brisket, corned beef and cabbage,, corned beef and pastrami on rye) with Corned Beef Hash (which CAN be in a tin/can and is something to do with being chopped up with potatoes). "Hash" is generally diced and fried meat and potatoes. Obviously a home cooked version is different than ones in a tin/can, but since the Uk doesn't tin anything and is known for their fresh balanced diet...that explanation must fall deaf on many of the British ears in this thread. lol.
Also, in the south pacific they sell corned beef in a tin/can and it comes from either new zealand or australia,.
