My mom eats corned beef.. And for St Patrick's Day.. she always has corned beef and cabbage.. but her family is Irish, so maybe that's where it comes from.. I've never eaten it - it looks gross to me... I think it might have been better if they cooked it a little... ??

Yeah, I am.. and I just started watching your reality shows -- when Aaron was on BB.. I love them..

Corned beef is known in the US.. I actually never paid attention to what it consists of though.. Deli's sell corned beef sandwiches commonly.. not sure why Ash had never heard of it..

I thought it was spam she was turning her nose up at not corned beef. Anyways hot dogs come from Germany if I remember. Isn't that why they're called Frankfurters? And Americans have black pudding too. They call it blood sausage.

In the states they have huge canned meats big enough to feed an entire family. http://m.samsclub.com/ip/hormel-blac...m-5-lbs/164316

I thought you might be when I saw that you were from Houston, Texas

Ah, you were an Aaron fan, then you will probably know by now that I wasn't

I used to love corned beef years ago but I haven't touched it for many years, I am now a vegetarian

I think you're right that hot dogs originated in Germany..

And yes, canned meat is sold here.. It looks positively nasty.. Spam is HUGE in Hawaii.. I've read they even sell it at McDonald's in Hawaii... We have a product called "Vienna sausages" sold in a can which is some sort of meat product with that gelatin type substance which keeps it from expiring.. pretty nasty..

No, I hated Aaron!! I thought he was positively awful.. I just used him as a reference since he won that season..

I wish I could be a vegetarian, but I don't like many foods, so to cut out meat would cripple me..but good for you!

I suppose corned beef is just another form of meat that would come into the category of a delicatessen type meat.
I'm sure that's quite common in America isn't it?

I think people are confusing 'corned beef' (aka a traditional corned beef brisket, corned beef and cabbage,, corned beef and pastrami on rye) with Corned Beef Hash (which CAN be in a tin/can and is something to do with being chopped up with potatoes). "Hash" is generally diced and fried meat and potatoes. Obviously a home cooked version is different than ones in a tin/can, but since the Uk doesn't tin anything and is known for their fresh balanced diet...that explanation must fall deaf on many of the British ears in this thread. lol.

Also, in the south pacific they sell corned beef in a tin/can and it comes from either new zealand or australia,.
