Good hair is about 82% of what makes a decent popstar. Think of all the greats: David Bowie, Morrissey, Rihanna, Sinead O'Connor. What do they all have in common? Charisma, swagger, hot dance moves, a touch of tragedy about them, sure. But most of all, they have amazing hair.

For my money, the acts with the best hair this year have been Jade Ellis, and George and Jaymi from Union J. But to be honest, this hasn't been an optimum hair year. 2010 was the best hair year overall, with Harry Styles, Aiden Grimshaw, Cher Lloyd and Wagner all showing the amateurs (ie. Storm Lee) how it's done.

So, discuss: which XF acts have had the best hair? You may use picture-based evidence to strengthen your argument if you wish.

Jedward — no picture evidence needed because you all know and can visualise the iconic Jedward hair.

Rhydian's was okay, but not amazing enough to be particularly memorable. Decent, slightly above average hair. 6.5/10.

The first I thought of was Ashley McKenzie - the second, Jamie Afro

Though I'd agree with Jedward and Rhydian

Anyone voting for Simon's unique square shaped cut

Jamie Afro broke the fourth wall, though, by changing his last name to describe his hair. That would be like Morrissey changing his name to Quiff. Just not on.

Jedward for sure. Rylan's, Rhydian's, Diana's & Jade Ellis' have all been lovely too.

Aiden Grimshaw developed a decent 50s rockabilly quiff.

The combination of big hair and his clean cut looks also made him look like a 1980s superstar.

His hair looked pretty much perfect on the XF. Quiffs are the best hairstyle ever invented for those blessed few with cheekbones high enough to pull it off.

And that's what the Op wanted you to say. And us just me but isn't anyone disturbed about the superficiality of this thread. After all we get accused of being nasty if we comment on a contestants looks , is this not the same? And no it is not a bit of fun so don't start because the exact same could have been said about comments about people 's looks and everyone got on their moral high horse then.

I would like the survey where the 82% of a popster is all about the air?

Storm? Is that you?!

Seriously, this thread is TOTALLY in fun (though I do always appreciate good popstar hair, it can't be denied.) Obviously it's superficial and ridiculous to rate someone on their hair. Don't do it in real life, kids!

Harry Styles' hair should win an award for services to his face. Imagine if she shaved it off! Although I think some of us are forgetting Frankie Cocozza
