Dance Fusion!

If they truly want to do dance fusion, they must really morph from one genre to another.

Samba and cha cha sounds doable.

Foxtrot and tango, yeah maybe.

Waltz and VW, same beat.

Jive and QS is the only cross ballroom/latin genre I think might work.

Paso and Tango might work too, with the right music. But I want to see Paso, and then tango thrown in, and back to paso and then some tango stacatto. That would be fusion done to perfection.

But I doubt the pros will have the time to do that with their celebs. Dancing two dances are difficult to start with already, why add such nonsense into it?

I have been looking forward to seeing some of the remaining celebs do certain routines. If we are now only going to get mini, bastardised versions of these routines I will not be best pleased. They should be doing two dances per week by now anyway so that each celeb has a chance of completing the entire range of dances.

If they keep shaking, they might have nothing left.

Lisa will have an obvious advantage in this............

It's like my peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Even better than the marmite and banana ones.

Not a fan, I take it. What other changes the show has made have you disliked? (just the use of the word 'keep' makes me think you have several things in mind).

Ooo, I've never tried that... Could it work? Banana goes well with Quorn 'bacon' and fried bread sarnie... Hungry now.

Hate the dance fusion idea, unless they're going to make the dances longer to allow each style to evolve and merge and be all artisticky

Oh, and do they choose from new dances or can they be old too? (I do quite lke SCD-O's paso / tango idea)

Props? Thankfully they've now kept that to the beginning and the end.

Joke VTs? It was dire but they've toned it down after viewers complained to POV.

They have allowed the rules to change in the ballroom and now they can break hold mid dance if they chose. This means leg work and body contact (which is difficult in the ballroom) could be done away with and people like Lisa who's technically weaker can get away with 'performing' her dance.

And don't let me start on their swingathong. Or maybe that was SCD's own abomnination.

Agree. They have a popular show whose formula has proved an international hit and massive money-spinner but they are not happy with that. They have to think 'How can we make it even more popular' and then set about messing with everything which made the show likeable in the first place. They are obsessed with chasing demographics that have little interest in watching the show at the expense of regular fans. They don't just want lots of viewers, they want lots of 'the right sort of viewers' in their eyes.

Here's a novel idea: how about mastering the basic ones before you mix them up.

We can't retain our interest for 90 seconds of one genre and we need to have a schizophrenic version of mixing up the dance. Right. Truly patronizing in the highest order. Argh. I am SO mad. If I want DWTS I bl**dy well watch DWTS, thank you very much (and I DON'T like DWTS generally).

Their is only a couple of weeks to go, so they should have the basics now.......and most do.

I want to see the Jive/Waltz's fusion...

I like the idea of the fusions! They worked really well in America, even the weird looking ones; it's all in the music!

If we're stealing things from DWTS, can we have Tom Bergeron - please?
Ballroom-B.

Gaaaah! is all I can say to this idea. I just can't see it working in the main. The quickstep and the jive can be mixed as the music tempos and beat structure are similar - think Pasha and Katya's pro dance to Caro Emerald last series. Likewise the the paso and the tango are mixable under certain circumstances - again that was done to Paint it Black as a pro number on one of the SCD live tours but some dances just can't go with others.
Cha and rumba can be mixed to produce a slow cha cha cha with certain pieces of music - the theme to flashdance springs to mind and there is a sugababes song. I think Matt Baker and Aliona did their rumba to it.

Overall I just think it will end up a mess though. I wish they wouldn't keep messing with the format. What was wrong with just seeing 1 minute 30 seconds of pure dancing like the old days?

In other words, we might get Lisa mixing a fun cha-cha with a fun samba.

Argh!

I hope Flavia gives two tumbs up and combine a charleston with the quickstep (since charleston can be done in quicksteps anyway).

Oh wait, Louis did a charleston this week.

It just goes to show what idiots we now have producing SCD. I bet they wouldn't know a foxtrot from a samba or how each dance has a particular character, rhythm, tempo etc.

Just more dumbing down of SCD.
