stupid idea. What about the dance marathon (where couples compete on the dance floor)? I want that back!

Here's my idea of how to mix things up at this stage of the competition without ruining the content of the actual dances. The six remaining celebs have to do two of their remaining dances, one with their usual pro partner and one with a different pro. It would be a good way of re-integrating some of the eliminated pros back into the show and different choreography could give the audience a new perspective on the celebs. Imagine a Louis and Kristina Cha-Cha-Cha, a Kimberley and Artem Rumba or a Denise and Anton Quickstep. There are enough left-over pros by this stage for it to work.

A marathon sounds quite boring.

I've always wanted a 'Change partners, please' week. Wish they'd do it.

Whoa there!!! Remember - the Slebs don't "learn to dance" - they "learn to do A dance" -with 1 partner/coach

jj, you're talking at a level of commonsense that really isn't in keeping with the show!

I think it'd be a hoot!

Somehow I don't think James, or Brendan for that matter would fare so well across the pond..... there you have truly big ego'd Alpha male types like Maksim Chmerkovskiy that would run rings round James and Brendan; charisma wise and choreography wise...jmo

Has anyone changed their mind since this thread was made? I inwardly cringed when the announcement about Dance Fusion was made in the previous show, so was doubly surprised to find I really enjoyed all of last night's performances and the fusion idea in general. It was great.

Having watched the ones in America, I'm a little disappointed with some of the fusion dances, but I thought the Tango/Rumba were very good, Quickstep/Charleston, I thought so were the Tango/Cha Chas but they were done better on DWTS- I thought the AS/Samba was an attempt to replicate the Argentine Tango/Samba fusion madness they had on DWTS, only difference is the music and choreography were much better on the American version. Overall, i thought the Americans did it better but I thought it was a very gallant effort by our lot x

I think the fusion dances were danced better than I expected, but would still have preferred to see everyone dance a new dance.

Everything was still a compromise in some respect to be a fusion.

I hope we dont see it again in future. IMO its another example of making a change to stir interest rather than trying to improve something. Different rather than better.

I changed my mind.

I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed the SCD version of Dance Fusion much, much more than the DWTS version - and that's despite the big budget production by DWTS that week. However, I'd put it down to the combination of dances fused and the music choices. SCD got more of those things right than DWTS.

But my big problem with the whole thing was how unfair it was to have some couples dancing a dance (or even two dances) they'd already danced and others starting from scratch. Also, I'm sure some pros did choose the two dances to fuse, but I'd hate to think that all of the combinations were chosen by the pros because some were dreadful (I'm thinking Nicky & Karen's Samba/AS and Flavia & Louis' Rumba/Tango). If there hadn't been so much unfairness, I'd have said it was a brilliant theme week.

In fact, I'd like to see Dance Fusion done again next year in the semi finals, with all the combinations being two dances each couple have already danced.

Much better Pros on DWTS.....but ours are still good.

And Fusion Night was even better, then I thought it was going to be.

I found the dance fusions a bit messy and confusing for the most part. If it were to be done again I'd like to see a higher standard and a rule against doing dances which you've already performed.

I wouldn't have known where to begin trying to suss out the combo of Nicky and Karen's fusion had I not been told, but I enjoyed it all the same. I thought Louis and Flavia's fusion was one of the more interesting combinations and they performed it well. Louis was also the first celeb of the night not to make an obvious mistake in the routine, so that was another plus for me

As for unfairness, I didn't think about who had already danced what ahead of last night's show, but it's a good point. I'm skating thinly over the board today as I don't want the result to be spoiled, but will look into where they came on the leaderboard relative to if they had known the dances beforehand with more interest once the result show is aired. Thanks for that pointer.

If that idea was adopted this year we could see James dancing the waltz with Erin!
