sorry, I don't really understand what you mean. I am saying I dont fit into the brackets the subsequent poster put so I am clarifying that it's not just those people who like/vote for him. I am not a granny (far from it), I am not Liverpudlian and he doesnt get my sympathy vote.

My point is people shouldn't assume who are voting
Why shouldn't they assume? An act does old-school/ dated (depending on whether you like them) style, it's natural to think they skew towards older viewers. Union J you would very much expect to skew towards younger girls and more female in general. James you would think would have a lot more of the hipstery type of vote.

There will be lots of exceptions, but it's not at all ridiculous to think that those trends are a factor. It's not a certainty, but it would be kind of odd if it were not the case.

Exactly - the question posed by the OP is "Who is this mysterious big fan base of Chris?"
It may well be the case that away from DS World and the type of people it tends to attract, there are sections of the population eg pensioner cruise ship fans, deserted grannies etc who are delighted to see him on the telly week after week.

I think we all need to accept some people like really overblown performances by singers who keep hitting bum notes. I like Marmite. It's a free world.

I have the Marmite with the gold sparkly bits in it. Maybe that's why I like Rylan

My mother likes him - she is 80 - but I have threatened to disown her if she keeps it up ! However, she hasn't voted and would never vote on any of these reality shows because she has better things to spend her money on. I would have thought that was true of most people her age. I also asked her if she would buy one of his CDs and she said no - again her upbringing and background is that even if you have the money you don't waste it on unimportant things.

He gets votes from those who like straightforward proper singing.

He is also very quick to thank those who do vote for him. The others don't bother.

It is overrated, him and union j was neck and neck tonight. he must have got a lot of votes just before they closed.
Chris topped the vote. I have no doubt about that at all. And check out his facebook support page. He has a big following, no doubt.

It must be Liverpool multivoting for him.

He gets booed in the studio and he's not liked on here. So are his fans in hiding?

Who knows why he's so popular. Must be alot of people out there who like karaoke style singing.

Their money I guess.
You talk as if James and Jahmene are world class singers and not on a TV entertainment show. People are now panicking in regards to Christopher on this show, it is kind of funny to see.

Very rude comments. You have your opinion, I have mine, I don't slate people who love James yet I cannot understand how anyone could listen to him for more than 1 minute.
How ironic that you continually taunt other FMs and call them haters (which is actually against the t&c's of this site) and then have the cheek to call others rude. Pots and kettles anyone?

I can't wait to see the voting percentages next weekend, I think they're gonna be shocking!

I'm at a loss as to where this 'fan-base' of Christopher Malone's comes from

He's not talented ( well, not counting a Butlin's Red coat kind of talent ) ... so why are people spending their money on him ?

Could it be, that the Malone 'voting demographic' are those who relish the sense of power and 'togetherness' an 'anti vote' gives them ?

I'm not being patronizing, or spiteful here ... truely I'm not ... just trying to understand

That the rumours are true, and Chris will be topping the votes every single week by a large margin. That, to me, is shocking.

I'd say his fans are:
1) those who like 80's songs and feel they can sing along with him and thus like him for that. He's consistent, won't do anything shocking and reels out song in a very cruise ship style, but has a decent enough voice fo them to like him.
2) People who feel sorry for him (something I think Jahmene has too) and
3) Fingers up to the X Factor supporters.

Personally he irritates the crap out of me, when he sings and when he talks. I'm really not feeling any of the three things above!

The Liverpool multivote thing doesn't wash.

All the contestants are from large urban areas with their own regional identity

It won't be the first time an 'anti vote' has been used to keep someone in a reality show. I do think people got peeved with XF and the judges and what they said about Chris, so part of supporting Chris is to get at them. I'm not sure how many of these voters actually like him, or just like the idea of fingers up to XF. There have been quite a few people who have said on here, support Chris because he's being bullied and XF is out of order. So it would seem that this is part of his vote.

Personally I don't think he was bullied at all, they simply didn't like him and said that!
