The Textr Beagle - £10 e-reader

Just been looking at this. They've gone about it a different way, and it does seem a bit of a faff, but for the projected price, you'd potentially get a lot of people willing to give it a punt.

i could almost see Amazon funding it to a degree as it could almost be a 'gateway' to upgrading to a Kindle really.

Its pretty dire. If I didn't already have a kindle, I'd rather pay £49.99 for the Kobo mini or even £69.99 for the cheapest kindle available. You couldn't even buy it and give it away as it works in conjunction with the phone.

So it's £10 if bought with a mobile phone contract...so it's not really £10 at all then...it would be a bit like saying you can get a Samsung Galaxy S3 for free...as long as you buy it with a mobile phone contract

To be honest I can't see this one working out - if you want an e-reader you can get a fully featured one for about £50 with no ties and one that can have more than 5 books at one time...seems like a strange idea this one.
