When asked about Christopher he said ... "Do you want me to say the nice thing ... or the truth ?"

That isn't their call. They were put together as a group for the show. As part of the group, George has as much right to go on tour as the rest of them.

He should have went solo. Keith Lemon also pointed out that the question "does Christopher deserve to be in the final" is also a negative question. He kind of exposed them.

Not really, they auditioned as a three piece.

Absolutely, and Abigail please see my second comment as to how they will ditch him

They got through to the live shows as a four piece. They can't just dump him before the tour. He has a place on that tour.

They won't drop him because lets be honest, his pretty little face and the guitar is probably seen as a big plus to marketers. He can't sing but he doesn't need to. Teenage girls are very gullible.

Of course they shouldn't dump him, nor would they want to - they all seem like best friends in all their interviews. Their manager even said Jaymi had told him at bootcamp that George should be a part of their group, before the X Factor producers suggested it.

Worrying times when Keith Lemon is the voice of reason, eh? :P

The guests always speak more truth than anyone involved with the production. Keith's right about James looking like Sloth!!!

He was asked if he'd buy Chris's album, and said, without a moment's hestitation ... " No"

So he was pretty 'negative' himself

I doubt Jaymi would appeal anywhere near as much if he was a solo artist.

As to the comments saying they should ditch George, that's just silly. George is one of the biggest reasons they're so popular with teen girls in the first place. I don't get the comments saying he looks uncomfortable either. I watched only one of their twitcams and I could tell they were all very close just from that. He and Jaymi actually slept with their beds right next to each other. I think they're very good friends.

But didnt he audition before (a number of times) and fail. If so, dosent that indicate possible failure if he does go solo?

I've never said he could make it as a solo artist, only that he has an amazing voice. I don't think he should go solo - it's a female driven industry and he'd struggle, no matter how fantastic he is.

I don't know if he has auditioned before on the X Factor as part of a band, solo or both - I remember he was part of a boyband last year that didn't make it and that's all... and I also saw him live opening for a Westlife concert a few years ago and he was part of another boyband then,so I don't know if he's been solo or not.

Didn't Chris O'Dowd say it weeks ago on Xtra?

Jaymi completely outshines the other members of Union J in the vocal department, and George Shelly was the most useless addition. If I was a music label I'd save myself the money and just sign Jaymi and ditch the other three. Or keep the pretty one (Josh his name?) to attract lustful girl/boy fans and get extra cash from sold merchanise with his face on it. Jaymi on his own could prob do an album of power ballads, or, he could do theatre if the music career didn't happen, serious theatre that is not Panto (sorry pano fans). I thought Keith was abit mean about the James and Goonies character comparison (and yes, I know it was just a joke).

They put him in to distinguish the group from District3/GMD3. In addition, it is to make the group more youthful, hence more appealing to teenage girls.

I liked it when Olly and Caroline asked about what he thinks Chris should do to combat the negative press he's receiving and Keith retorted that both of them questioning why Christopher is still on the show is in itself negative. I don't watch The Xtra Factor often, generally I find "after" shows of reality TV programmes pretty annoying and pointless, but from what I've read on these forums Caroline hasn't been particularly nice about Christopher so for her to pretend that she's pleased for him suddenly now he's in the final is sickeningly two-faced. When Chris was on the show last night she was so fake towards him, at least have the guts to stand by your negative opinions and not act all smiley when you're faced with the person.

This. They were not accepted as Triple J. They were put through as Union J. They won't be allowed to ditch George (and why would they want to?! /drool). And if they did, then they shouldn't be allowed to perform on the tour.

I don't think they should drop George. The other three look far too similar.

You can't compare McFly to Boyzone and WestLife. They write their own stuff & play instruments, much more talented. Thought they sounded great last night on Xtra Factor.

I know its horrible but the reason why I dont like union J is because I dont like George. I prefered them when they were triple j.
