I don't think the VFTW factor is the main deal, though undoubtedly it will have an additional effect, but that always runs out of steam around now.
He's from Liverpool - this is the main effect so far.
They've had 4 people in the Finals in 9 years.
No other town/city votes for their boy/girl like Liverpool. Pitch a semi-finalist Liverpudlian against someone from Ireland and have Louis Walsh begging for Irish votes and the scouser would still knock the Irish act out. Only two Irish acts have made the top 3, three if we include Shayne Ward who although born in Manchester, has Irish roots, which Louis played up to.
Only 20 million votes are cast across a series, with most of it in the Final, so that most weeks there may be under a half million votes.
Dermot revealed a million votes were cast in the semi-final - between 4 acts, providing a base share of only 250,000 each.
All you need is 20,000 repeat dialing scousers, drawn from a city of a half million, or 1-in-25 scousers, each voting 4 or 5 times and they alone give Christopher an additional 100,000 votes.
This all works up to the Final, then when the whole country votes the Liverpool or any VFTW element gets swamped by the size of the vote, so unless the rest of the country loves Christopher, which let's face it is highly unlikely, he will not win.
