Do his fans - and I'm one - really want him to win? I don't. It's been proven time and again that winning is no guarantee of success and, that not winning certainly doesn't have to mean failure. The best thing for James would be to finish second. He gets almost as much exposure on the show as the winner, but none of the un-realistic expectation that comes with it. I suspect he'll be signed up wherever he comes, and by not winning he'll have much more freedom to put out the songs that suit him, not what Cowell wants to turn him into. James would be wise to heed these two words: Matt. Cardle.

I like him, but can understand why some people don't get all the fuss at the moment.

I think people will get him a lot more when he releases his music. At the moment some are comparing him to Matt Cardle etc but I don't think he is anything like them.
Probably the reason why some people in the industry are very excited about him.

I don't like any of the last three, but I did find one of James's performance "ok" one week, so I guess he's my favourite now. I really don't like him, but compared to whiney Jahmene or shake 'n fake Chris, he's a genius.

He's what I call the John Major contestant: the least worst option.

My thoughts exactly.

Bit harsh that, however his last so called "great" performance on Saturday was littered with mistakes (to me anyway), where he wasn't quite keeping up or near enough the mike, when the powerful pre-recorded backing track kept going. X factor are trying so hard to push him down our throats.

I doubt whether he really has a long term future once they lose interest in promoting him.

I don't think he has the kind of personality to go out and do all the press and media junk that he would have to do to be successful, plus no matter how good he may be he will always have the stigma of being on the x-factor which will result in him being shunned by the cool kids and if he plays depressing ballads he will be inaccessible to the tweenie market.
