I still think there was more to the scene where Brody was taken to see Nasir that we haven't seen . Brody may have been told the whole plot about killing the VP and the kidnapping of Carrie was just a cover to give him an alibi for doing it (saving Carrie) .

2 of the best lines came from Saul last night:

Saul to Carrie: You are the smartest and dumbest f**king person I've ever known.

and (my personal favourite) -

Saul to Carrie: I thought you went into this with your eyes wide open.

Me: Are you kidding me?! Look at her, her eyes couldn't get any wider, mate.

Brodie praying by the lake what significance did that play, sure he may do that everyday but why was it showed was it to say that all goes well for the car bomb attack. And Quinn not shooting Brodie the second chance he had to take him out and chose not to. Lets not forget Quinn had been watching Carrie and Brodie for 24 hours so he knew when they left and probably where Brodie was going. Did Quinn negotiate with Brodie when Brodie was in the CIA Building did Quinn have access to get into the Car Park and move Brodies Car from where it was. He had already made it clear to Estes that he was going to Kill Brodie but maybe he just didnt trust Estes so why not take everyone out.

Quinn decided he wasn't going to take Brody out and told Estes so , warning him that if anything happened to Brody he'd be back to see to him .

No real significance, I suspect, other than to ramp up the tension with viewers expecting to see Brody's head explode all over the lake during prayer.

I thought the ending was great because it leaves so many possibilities for the next series.
I hope Saul is a good guy, ditto Quinn.
I'm bored with Brody's family though and practically nod off during all the teenage angst.

I don't think we'll know the significance until next series. I think Quinn made contact and told Brody the new plot, because Quinn's not a 'good guy'.
Then Quinn went to Estes and made sure that Brody would be alive to see through the plot.

I agree completely. She was vital in the first series as only she could talk her father down from detonating the bomb - even though she only sensed what was going on and didn't really believe it.

She was the sane, practical voice that cut through all the family mess in both series pointing out that life for everyone was simpler before her dad reappeared. She was the adult in the family. She even accepted her father's conversion to Islam.

And I assume the purpose of the hit and run, far from being pointless, gave Brody a reason for his temporary breakdown and highlighted the sins of the father being visited on the daughter as her moral stance - that she had to take responsibility for her part in leaving the scene of the accident - was corrupted by the CIA's demands of her father. And then the final letdown - seeing the video.

I think she had a complex part and played a well-written role extremely well. Any angst and "whining" was entirely justified. Imo.

Unlike Jack Bauer's daughter in 24 - a character I just wanted to slap. Repeatedly.

quinn was ready to take out brody until ordered to stand down, AN probably wanted brody alive as his legacy is to have a war hero turned against his own country. a symbol that anyone can turn against america.

Estes ordered Quinn to stand down when Quinn picked Brody up outside the house. Quinn looked to be all ready to carry out the task... until it was clear from the takedown of terrorists outside the diner that AN had not been taken and Estes pulled the plug on the kill until AN had been found.

I don't think AN had any plans for Brody further than to deliver the pacemaker details which led to the memorial service which led to multiple high-level targets gathering together... and Brody's car being available for special valet parking. I'm sure AN would have expected Brody to die in the explosion... not that he probably cared one way or the other. The video could / would be released regardless of whether Brody was alive or dead.

I don't think Quinn is a baddie at this time... but who knows what the writers will decide to do with any of the characters next season.

I don't know if this has been covered, but if Nazir wanted to be caught/killed (as Brody speculated) then why would he hide himself away during the initial sweeps of the building? He had no way of knowing that Carrie would order another sweep, even if Roya's slip of the tongue was deliberate.

In that context, explain the scene in which Brody spoke to Abu Nazir and pleaded with him to release Carrie before handing over the code for Walden's pacemaker. If the whole scenario was pre-planned, that entire conversation was unnecessary.

That was earlier in the series, maybe Brody was expendable then. Things changed

did Brody know Carrie wasn't listening at that point ?

also - he and Nasir may have believed that Brody's phone might be bugged , thus they kept up the charade to give Brody his alibi.

Agreed. Kim was the most unsympathetic of characters.
Even though she had lost her mum, and had a mad dad, you kind of felt that she deserved it.

Dana, however, is a believable teen and it is possible to understand and sympatise with the mess other people have made of her life.

Just watched the last episode and won't be wasting my time with the 3rd series. Whoever's writing the story is either 2 people that never interact or one person with split-personality disorder. Is a shame because the show had a good premise.

hey - maybe Carrie is the mole? just saying... turned in lebanon years ago perhaps? And what's with saul's wife asking about carrie out of the blue? Hey...anything goes in this series and I doubt if the writers know where it's going entirely at this point. Must say I was impressed with the actor who played Estes when he on This morning a couple of weeks ago. Never gave it away that he'd been blown up when Scof was asking if he was a bad guy.

I onder if Quinn is going to be in series three? I hope so as I think he's a good character.
Have to agree with a few of the other posters on here - Dana is awful and I'd be happy never to see her in Homeland again!

It's entering 24 territory now sadly. Which is a shame because I thought S1 was brilliant but when they ended S1 the way they did I feared the worst. S2 wasn't as good and sadly it's just becoming a twist-a-thon now rather than a series you could just about believe might happen in real life.

maybe it's one person with a split personality and one person with bi-polar disorder .

Me neither. From what I can remember of my own teenage years, she seems fairly normal to me - quite an achievement, considering how dysfunctional her parents are!

Well, for me at least, it's good escapist entertainment. I'm not expecting 'true to life' although I do believe that there are events that do occur in this world that defy being real, but in fact are.

I've watched all the Homeland episodes and am still enjoying it. I shall look forward to S3.

Ditto. It's good fun. Lots that isn't explained well, like (for me) Carrie getting away from Nasir and the CIA operative who was with Brodie in the car at the time, who clearly knew something was wrong, but their lack of interest in Walden's death.
