Farah's father then guessed where she worked, and suggested she had started there after the Langley bombing (just three or four months earlier) and that the CIA would be mad when they knew about her family background with relatives in Iran.
.
I took it her father was saying the Iranian authorities would be angry at Farah if they found out she was working for the CIA and punish her family in Iran, not that the CIA didn't know about her background.
I understood this as the 2nd explanation

So, finally, they've gotten round to proving there is a point to Mrs Saul.....maybe by the time S6 rolls around, Chris Brody will have some dialogue....

Saul has been keeping Brody on ice....and now that he's made sure the corroboration of Brody's innocence is no more, he can parade the Langley bomber....securing his 'legend' and also helping out Javadi in Iran. He has never had any interest in 'clearing' Brody, he needs him guilty.

At this point, Javadi is a more sympathetic character. Saul has no compunction about what or who he uses to achieve his mission, which side he is on is moot.....he's purely working for Team Saul, something Javadi has tried to warn Carrie about. It wouldn't surprise me to learn, "the person who brought us together" Javadi spoke of, is Saul, not the lawyer bloke.

There is no way Saul or his house/family would be without a security detail but I guess you have to suspend disbelief in this show.
Also, I am a bit peed off with The Radio Times write up:
.... there's a certain something in the air between her (Carrie) and black ops guy Quinn ... what, apart from the fact he shot her?
Also ....the Brody family get some startling news ....... surely thats next week? Or maybe not.

Best episode of this season so far?

Lots happening in all the major storylines, and interesting to confirm that it's Saul - and not Carrie - who saw Brody to Caracas. But will he be used as some kind of sacrificial lamb now to aid Javadi up the Iranian hierarchy?

A little late with my review this week, but here it is anyway:

If that was real life, I doubt someone in Saul's position wold go in person to a country that has hostile relations with their own country.
Brodie isn't in Iran, I think he's in Caracus, Venezuela according to my hubby?
Yes we know Brody is in Caracas. I thought Styker meant the US had hostile relations with Venezuela. (I know the Americans dislike any government that is left-leaning, but I'd have thought 'hostile' was a bit of an overstatement )

Perhaps I've been sleepwalking through this series, but I didn't find it particularly jaw-dropping that Saul turned up there, as others seem to have done.

I think it was jaw dropping for me to know how he used Carrie as he did i.e. the having her sectioned plot, lulling her into believing she was worth something to him [ remember the cuddle he gave her on his verandah?] while deceiving her about Brody and I never expected Brody to have used the heroin to be honest ,

Don't you think Carrie will lose the baby ?She's bound to either disclose that she's pregant when they get her to the hospital or be found out ?

Nobody 'saw Brody to Caracas'. He was on the run in South America, got shot, recognised and delivered up to the bandidos. He could have died before he even arrived there. Why would he try to escape from his captors if he and Saul were in it together? . Or perhaps that was part of the 'plan' as well.

Oh bugger. Saul's found Brody. Walk away, Saul, walk away... the show's doing nicely without you, Brody, and only Carrie is missing you anyway.

I assume that Brody's been given up by his Venezuelan chums for the reward.

I love Carrie and it's a strength of the writing that I'm entirely in accord with the decision to shoot her!

If they ever make a film about Harold Shipman then look no further than Saul. He is a twin

Yes he's in Venezuela and the Americans do not like Venezuela as they have had an out and out socialist Government for a long time and the Americans have a history of not liking socialism in general.

I take it you never heard of Venezuela's previous president Hugu Chavez? If you look him up on wiki, I'm sure you will see why I wrote what I did.

No America/Venezuela relations is not one of my specialist subjects But for the purpose of Homeland Iran is the 'enemy' of USA this series, not Venezuela.

Sorry if I seem a bit thick, but did we know the bomber who got shot, from previous episodes/series or is he a stranger to us?

Brody is in Venezuela and I do not think it is realistic at all that the head of the CIA would go there in person to meet up with mobsters who I'd think in real life would probably take him hostage as well to try and get even more money.

I don't think Homeland expects the suspension of reality to be so wide that America only has one enemy in Iran either.

I don't remember seeing him previously . Was he the one who made Brody's suicide vest ? I don't think so but stand to be corrected.

I thought that for him to move the car he would have to work at Langley so we may have seen him there.

I'm still figuring out why he had to have acid poured over him. Was that because he would have been regognised by someone ? .

The lawyer type was not aware he was being followed, but is in the business of making people disappear...he's using the acid to get the guy "out of the country", as in almost all TV/movie plots, introducing a body to an acid bath leaves no trace of a person ever having been there....

No - the one who made Brody's vest ("the tailor") was killed by Brody in series 2. He killed him in the woods, while trying to move him to a safe house.

This season is terrible.

What was in season one a brilliant, tense programme based on a simple premise with - once that is accepted - fairly realistic plots, has become utterly bizarre and ridiculous.

The director of the CIA goes totally on his own in a secret and unofficial mission to Venezuela, a hostile country with no diplomatic relations, carrying a bag containing $10 million in cash, and meets a gang of ruthless criminals. What sort of programme is this? It is so far fetched that it must be set in a different universe.

I am still watching, but now because I want to see how bad it can get.

Acting director

Homeland has always been far fetched - even season 1. That's part of the appeal. I'm enjoying this season after the shambles that was season 2.

Tsk ... stupid of me to have forgotten .. of course !Thanks.

I'm thinking that the sleeping girl who we see at intervals, is dreaming all Homeland ! That's how far fetched it is but it's no worse than Lost
