Dire tonight.

If it's that bad again next week that's it for me.

The series is very good so far. Miss Brody and wonder if Brodies daughter will become the mother of the kid.
Oh god please no! The absence of Dana mooning miserably around rolling her eyes and sulking has been a major plus point for this series so far.

Almost in agreement with you . Not the Homeland we've been used to .

At least they put an enormous effort into finding a baby who looked as if Damien Lewis might be her father!

When Carrie said, "I can still see him when I close my eyes", I thought, "or when you open your eyes and look at your baby"!

I'll be curious to get your take on the pregnancy situation once you've seen the first couple of new episodes.
When she was pregnant, Carrie continued to drink heavily, took up smoking, and put herself in very risky situations. And she evidently didn't have many ante-natal appointments, certainly not early on in the pregnancy to find out about recommendations for what to do about the medication she was on and what effects it might have on the baby if she continued with it or stopped taking it. It wasn't very clear that she actually wanted the baby, but she wouldn't consider having an abortion, even though it was likely the baby could have been harmed by all that heavy drinking. If I remember correctly, she was thinking of giving the baby up for adoption but her sister talked her out of it saying the baby would "ground her"? Or am I misremembering? Now the sister is complaining about having to look after the baby and Carrie can't look after her for a few hours without trying to kill her. So maybe she should revisit the idea of giving her up for adoption. She didn't even go to visit her father to find out why he wasn't helping - was that because the actor wasn't available?

The resemblance was so strong it was creepy, perhaps a paternity test is in order!

Yep I'm thinking that too but reckon I'd give it until episode 5 just in case it gets going again.

It's basically a new programme - it's like Brody being hanged ended Homeland as it was and now this is a spin of show. Very little continuity between season 3 & 4.

IMO the writers should have seen it this way and ensured that season 4 was absolutely gripping from the very start like season 1 was. There's a loyal viewer base so the writers can take a slightly slow start for granted a little but that will not last for long.

P.s. Is it just me that thinks that Carrie having a baby adds no content to the show what-so-ever? I'm finding it very frustrating.

Despite what we're shown in TV dramas & films, we know that the USA is the fattest country in the world - with being obese as practically the norm; therefore why on earth would those two blokes be sniggering about Quinn's 'girlfriend'? I'm sure they see several people her size on a daily basis, they'd be immune to it by now.

When Carrie pulled up outside the Brody household I thought she was going to dump the baby on Mrs Brody!

James Rebhorn, the actor who played Carrie's father, died earlier this year.

It agree that tonight's episode wasn't particularly engaging and rather slow, but Homeland usually has a couple of slowish episodes per series - sometimes to focus on emotional aspects - in this case, Quinn's conscience and Carrie's relationship (or lack of) with her baby. Hopefully, if Carrie is in Islamabad next week, it will get back on track.

(Although, no matter how boring it was, I don't think I'd ever give up on Homeland. )

Watching at US pace. Episodes 1 and 2 were shown together and it feels more satisfying that way.

It can be extra difficult to watch when you have been close to someone who has been in that situation of having an unplanned pregnancy and not dealing with it well at all on a physical or psychological level. You feel for the baby more than the mother even though the mother is often equally vulnerable in many ways, simply because ultimately (and as Carrie's sister said to her) the baby played no part in creating the situation. .

I think the sniggering was over why a fit attractive man like Quinn would be with a rather plump woman who would ordinarily not be considered to be in his league.

Surely Carrie's sister was telling a fib about having to cancel patients' appointments because of Carrie being back late? She wasn't even expecting Carrie to turn up the previous day, so she must have made those appointments very recently!

Dragged a bit this week. I realise the point they're making about Carrie's difficulty in looking after her daughter but I got bored (apart from the bit where she nearly drowned the poor thing).

You would have thought the the corp would have realised she was exactly the wrong person to square their kit away.

Ultimately Carrie should be responsible and her sis should not have to make excuses anyway!

Thanks. Thought it was medicine, but couldn't think why he'd to move it. Assume he's been filching stuff from the university for some nefarious purpose.....

Some good points are that there is no more Brodys and the constantly sulking Dana. They shortened the opening titles and have ditched the jazz music.

It's now Carrie's story without the pointless Brody clan subplots.

I wonder if the mole from the last few series will be discovered or have the writers just decided to forget about it and hope the viewers do to.
