Syncing Nokia Lumia range with Outlook 2000?
I am thinking about replacing my old Nokia 5800 with a Lumia but seen reports that they do not sync with Outlook. Is this really true as it would be a show-stopper for me as Outlook is the base version of my Calendar and Contacts info. Much easier to arrange your life on a 24" monitor than a fiddly little mobile screen.

You sync with an email account, not with Outlook. So let's say you upload your calendar and contacts to google or your work email account and configure your phone to use that account and sync calendar and contacts with it.
