Wreck it Ralph - not a patch on Toy Story. 6/10

Lincoln - well acted and beautifully made, intelligent but hard to engage with. 6/10

Rewatching Breakfast Club on BBC2 now.
The film notable for celebrating the changing of a good looking Indie girl with a real personality into an anodyne, conformist, Stepford Wife.

The Birds
Human shampoo Tippi Hedren battles crazy birds in this Hitchcock horror.
That should be the synopsis given by all TV listings for that film!

The Notebook with Ryan Gosling.

10/10 - OMG, I cried like a baby at the end. I thought it was a beautiful film and it kept me hooked the entire way through. You know its a good film when it sticks with you, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.

La Piscine (The Swimming Pool)[1969]. Director: Jacques Deray

7/10

A couple on holiday in the South of France are joined by and ex-lover and his teenage daughter and we swiftly move to a ménage-a-quatre with tragic consequences. It all looks fabulous though for French films centered around swimming pools check out Ozon's 2003 movie "Swimming Pool" instead.

HBO and CINEMAX had a free weekend for non-subscribers so I caught the following:

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
Terrible film. Silly story, lousy cast. And the visual effects was surprisingly BAD for a major film! This was a waste of my time. LINK

The Apparition
Never heard of it but ended up enjoying this low-budget film. It's not original - as a matter of fact it reminded me a little of the film "Pulse". LINK

Contraband
I expected more from this one but it was just a dull film to sit through. LINK

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Saw this one on Bluray. It was ok. I wasn't expecting the amount of violence that was in it - or the swearing - which is fine with me. I just wish the story was better. The film did poorly in the US but foreign markets loved it which is why a sequel is on the way. I hope it's better. LINK

Warm Bodies. One of the best movies I've seen in this year, Nicholas Hoult puts a in a great performance.

Few inconsistency, but good enough to ignore.

Super

Similar to Kick Ass, but a little darker. Ellen Page was great in it.
