Brought two new dvds.

Kick-Ass 2 enjoyed watching it again as much as I watched it in cinema.

The Amazing Spider-Man enjoyed very much, never seen it in cinema still happy I watched The Amazing Spider-Man and looking foward to the next Spider-Man movie.

American Pie [1999]. Director: Paul Weitz

7/10

Still find those old gags funny.

*********

Le Dernier Combat (The Last Battle)[1983]. Director: Luc Besson

7/10

Besson's feature debut is a post-apocalyptic yarn in black and white with virtually no dialogue. Jean Reno plays the baddie.

Scrooged

This Bill Murray Christmas comedy could have been GREAT. Instead it's a misfire. First of all it's a fantastic idea to have Murray in a Christmas film - particularly one that spoofs Dickens. The 4 ghosts? I thought they were great too. But the film wasn't handled very well and quite frankly wasn't that funny. Yeah it had some funny lines and a funny moment here and there - but it wasn't consistent.

I recall that Bill Murray didn't like how this film turned out and didn't quite get along with director Richard Donner while filming it (something similar happened during GROUNDHOG DAY too which ultimately estranged him from pal Harold Ramis - but that's another story). Anyway, SCROOGED had loads of potential but I feel it was wasted.

The Internship (2013) - 3/10

I don't know why I expected more.

(On a personal note: I admit I haven't kept track of the Wilson brothers, but did something happen to Owen Wilson in real life? His responses and interactions seemed sluggish or stiff. As if he was on medication or had a stroke. Then again, I haven't seen any of his films since Zoolander (2001), so I probably forgot his style.)

The last movie I watched was The hunger games. It was great, I loved it and can see what the fuss is about.

Rating 10 out of 10

Watched three films yesterday.....

True Grit (2010) - Alright, but I actually prefer the Wayne version. probably won't re-watch this newer one.

No Country For Old Men - Didn't enjoy it much the first time around, but decided to give it another go. Thought it was pretty good. Most of it, anyway.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World - An old favourite of mine. First watch on Blu-ray. Well, it's great.

The Arrow - Which was on Freeview channel 61 last night. A tv movie (presumably) edited down from a miniseries, about the development of the Avro Arrow jet fighter in Canada in the 1950's. It looked interesting at first, but veered of into soap opera territory, before finally ending abruptly with no explanation of what happened to the project. I had to check online to find that information.

The Lovely Bones 9/10 ..this is really good film but it could so much better if they hadnt cut out the family life crisis plot as in the book and the affair between mrs Salmon (Rachael Weisz) and the police officer(Which they actually filmed but edited out )in the book this created a tense atmostphere which wasnt transferred to the big screen.. despite this point this is a spritral and in places disturbing film ! (paticually the bathroom scene )..how talented Saroise Ronan was ignored for what would have been her 2nd Oscar nomination is beyond belief ! i also thought Rose Maciver as the sister was oustanding as well as the creepy Stanley Tucci .. The special effects are stunning !

The Holiday ...9/10 romantic touching sweet film ..love the cottage ! want to live there !

Currently watching Home Alone: Holiday Heist (or something like that). It's pants - but my 10 year old is enjoying it.
