Paranormal Activity 4 8/10

- why in heck did this get such bad press etc, for a sequel it actually had a really good premise and the main characters were interesting and likeable, while the scares were not obvious they built towards the end with an eerie climax.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild.

I thought it was fantastic. It looked great and the narration was really interesting and fresh. I liked the look of the bathtub too, just felt so authentic and raw. Definately worthy of any hype it's recieved. 9/10

Confessions of a Go-Go girl. Terrible film, badly acted with wooden actors - Rachel Hunter was in it, 'nuff said - and formulaic 'plot' to boot. 'Enjoyed' it nevertheless 'cos sometimes you need something that isn't going to trouble your brain. 6.5/10

Django Unchained

Finally got around to it, saw at the cinema.
Doubt i'll see a better film this year - Christoph Waltz (can't get enough of this guy) and Di Caprio were both excellent. Some outstanding scenes & dialogue, good characters, funny, shocking etc...

Big ol' wild beast of a movie. Many talking points, many plus points.

I'll say 9/10.

Full Throttle.

Hong Kong Drama starring Andy Lau. It's very much standard HK cinema from the 90's. This one is based around Street Racers (motorbikes).

The drama is surprisingly good and better than the bike scenes (which are also very good). I identified with much of the movie, especially the main characters relationship with his Dad.

8/10.

night of the generals. 1967. 7/10

speculative 60s style ww2 thriller based on a side story to the famous Valkyrie plot to kill Hitler. confusing plot, and famous actors doing their usual expected stuff, but well made and acted and quite entertaning. lots of plot red herrings, slightly let down by stuck-on naff ending.

A royal affair 8/10

Good one. Mad Mikkelsen might look too old to play Struensee but he did a terrific job with Alicia Vikander. We all know how it ends but still the film is well-paced and gripping to watch

Russian Dolls (Les poupées russes).

2005 follow-up to 2002's Pot Luck (L'auberge espagnole), though this picks up 5 years later in Xavier's life.

The full cast return but some for really quite minor parts.

7/10.

The Raven (2012)

I have a soft spot for Cusack so it's hard to be objective but I enjoyed this.

Little Red Wagon.

Inspirational story based on real events, which concerns a young lad setting up a charitable foundation and his efforts to raise money for the needy.

It's always a delight to be reminded that there are good people out there.

I'd rate this higher if it weren't for the juxtoposed subplot of the homeless mother and son. Idea was right but I didn't feel it added anything to the story.

7/10.
