Dead Mine - 7/10

Rarely do I think movies deserve higher imdb scores, but this movie deserves higher than the 4.4 its at currently.

Le Mépris [1963]. Director: Jean-Luc Godard

8/10

A film about the making of a film (Fritz Lang appears as himself) and about the breakup of a marriage (with Brigitte Bardot frequently naked to suit the wishes of the American co-producers).

The Paperboy. 6.5/10

Unusual drama. Not as shocking or disturbing as I expected. Good story and acting though.

Iron Man 3 - 7/10 - not as good as the first one, but better than the 2nd one.

Serpico (1973) Sidney Lumet and Al Pacino. God Frank Serpico must have been hard to live with even if he was 100% right! I wonder if his Christ like post hippy appearance was merely coincidence or design.

Jack Reacher - haven't read the books so no baggage about TC playing him, anyway thoroughly enjoyed it, very entertaining crime/thriller that doesn't rely on overblown CGI. Some pretty funny dialogue too. 8/10.

I Wish - 5/10. It moved at a snail's pace, which tried my patience at times, and finally picked up after the half-way point. Amazing performances from all kids. While the ending was sweet, I found it depressing. I wish director could make the first half hell a lot shorter.

Flipped - 7/10. A nostalgic, charming 1950s- and 1960s-set love story between two young people who live opposite of each other. It was love at first sight for the girl and discomfort at first sight for the boy. It's a lot like The Wonder Years, but the story is told in parallel through two perspectives: the boy's and the girl's. Gentle, decent performances from all round. I wasn't surprised to discover that it's a Rob Reiner film (I missed the opening credits).

Just watched The Ruins

This has got to be the daftest film ever
Be fair - who takes weedkiller on holiday? It is rubbish tho'.

The Lords of Salem

Somewhat disappointing Rob Zombie devilry tosh. Some good Carpenter-esque mood building early on, but it - like the cast - is largely wasted on the leaden, inert script. That said, Zombie's imagery is often very accomplished and skillfully deployed. The particularly barmy final act resembles Rosemary's Baby after Kubrick and Ken Russell had got drunk and remade it for MTV. Yes, really. 6/10

Lockout. Enjoyable popcorn movie. Nothing earth shattering or deep in meaning, ideal Friday night viewing.

7/10.

Bridesmaids [2011]. Director: Paul Feig

5/10

Weddings are never a good subject for Hollywood comedies though Kristen Wiig is sporadically funny in a movie she co-wrote.

The Inbetweeners - I enjoyed it again. I'm hoping that there isn't a sequel though. Leave it as it is.

Another Happy Day [2011]. Director: Sam Levinson

5/10

Dysfunctional family reunion at a wedding. Full of unlikable characters. Somehow this needed 12 executive producers, 10 co-producers, 2 associate producers, 7 producers (including star Ellen Barkin) and just the 1 line producer.
