No act has ever been treated as badly as Jedward on X Factor. Two seventeen/eighteen year-old boys (they had their coming of age birthdays during X Factor when they appeared) were booed mercilessly by some plebs in the audience and they received nasty comments from all the judges (as well as some kind comments, admittedly, which were mostly from their mentor Louis Walsh) week after week and they continued to smile and accept what was thrown their way throughout it all. They never whined about their treatment once the way Christopher Maloney continues to do to anyone who gives him a platform. Christopher Maloney is not a teenage boy and has not received the treatment John and Edward Grimes had to contend with when they were deemed by tabloids, even, as public enemy number one (number two too?).
Will Christopher Maloney's name be readily recalled in three year's time as Jedward's name is recalled three years after they appeared on the show even though Jedward finished in sixth place and Christopher Maloney is very probably going to win? Christopher Maloney needs to grow a pair and man up to what it is to be in competition just as those teenage twins did. Whose guilty pleasure amongst the judges is Christopher Maloney? Who on the panel does he make smile? Rylan Clark has smiled and accepted nastiness throughout his time on X Factor too. I think Rylan Clark is ten years younger than Christopher Maloney and remains more grown up than him. Both Jedward and Rylan made graceful exits when it was their time to go. I don't think we'll be forced to witness Christopher Maloney's histrionics should he not win this coming weekend, however if we were to, it wouldn't be classy.

Coming out of lurking to say, good post
![]() ![]() I sincerely object to CM's "I'm a victim of the worst treatment ever" persona when nothing can touch my feelings towards what those teen twins suffered without a word of defence in 2009. What didn't kill them made them stronger, though and their careers continue. ![]() John and Edward Grimes never wheedled and mewed to get the sympathy vote back then and have never spoken out against X Factor or any judges on the panel to this day. |

The Daily Mail says that he says he has had the worst treatment of any X Factor to date.
So perhaps you should consider that you may be wrong about John & Edward. ![]() ![]() ![]()

'Tulisa and Louis have given me such a hard time': Christopher Maloney claims he has had the 'worst' X Factor experience of ANY contestant I don't care what Christopher Maloney claims because I know I'm right: No act has had a worser X Factor experience from audience, judges and press than then teenagers John and Edward Grimes. This is yet another example of 34-year-old Maloney mewing and whining, isn't it? Thanks for that to shore up my assertions as regards Maloney's pathetic pathos. |

I haven't seen Christopher continuously whine about his negative treatment from the judges when interviewed, and he has never been cocky and has given clever comebacks after receiving negative critique like I've seen Rylan do. He has always been dignified and takes it on the chin. Another thing, are you sure Christopher has not receieved the same treatment from the tabloids as Jedward did? Because I happen to look in a certain newspaper and was shocked to see the vitriolic caustic comments about Christopher, even saying that his own mentor Gary should ditch him in so many words. He has been subjected to just as much nastiness from the tabloids and et al as Jedward has. That particularly newspaper is a disgrace. Anyone would think he has murdered someone. So he is old-school, so what? Some people like it and some don't, it's not a crime to warrant such vile vitriol. |

All that put on shaking and quaking at the first audition was a complete turn off. All downhill after there for me I'm afraid. |

Chris can sing and has never been in the bottom 2 and has never been saved by the judges (not that they'd save him anyway). He's earned his place in the final much to the disgust of the producers, both Rylan and Jedward got so far in the competition with the help of the producers. That's the difference. |

Yes I'm sure Jedward received worse from tabloids and it seems to have only become a little easier for them in the last half year after the last nearly three years of savage denigration, them being lambasted at every turn. Christopher Maloney has most certainly not gone through what John and Edward Grimes had to take on their chins. They were treated as though they were the worst of the worst criminals bearing the vilest vitriol any X Factor contestants have ever faced up to and Maloney is a mature adult reacting as though he is the teenager. I have only raised the issue of the Grimes twins in order to make the comparison of his behaviour to theirs by showing him up. True colours will always out. Jedward have class, despite their bouncing around at times. I guarantee they will never speak out against their X Factor experience as they value the showcase it gave them. It's more and more seeming Maloney doesn't understand the value of the show bringing him to the public eye which many performers would give their eye teeth for.Rylan and Gary Barlow became a double act which both partook of at production's joy. Barlow and production enjoyed Rylan Clark's cocky come-backs, with Barlow at Rylan's farewell stating out loud the banter between them was never personal.

The thing with both Rylan and Jedward is they were both saved by the judges against much better singers, the producers were purposefully winding up the public and the public reacted accordingly.

That's the difference. ![]() Jedward have proved they are here to stay more than three years after their first appearance on the X Factor in May 2009 by becoming a household name. Why did judges/production save Jedward against much better singers? Because they have the X Factor — that's the difference. Production knew it, ITV, BBC and other TV companies know it. ![]() I will always argue the X Factor isn't a singing competition, but that it's an entertainment competition. Christopher Maloney doesn't entertain me, he does entertain others. I wonder what he will be doing in three year's time? Will his name still be appearing in the media like Jedward's name? I have the opinion Rylan is likely to be more successful than Christopher, even though I believe Christopher will win this weekend. |

This only demonstrates the sick and unbalanced mindset of some people. The way I perceive it, is that it is parallel with the treatment Christopher is receiving, although I appreciate others such as yourself are of a different opinion which, of course, you're entitled to, so fair enough. By the way I'm not a Christopher Maloney fan either. |

Yes, in the end the banter between Gary and Rylan was not personal even though in the first week when in the bottom 2 Rylan got a bit cocky when GB voted to send him home and when he was saved GB walked off in a huff. After Rylan gained popularity things became more amicable between them.

It beggared belief, what was happening to the boys! While I do not approve the death threats and vitriol toward Christopher at all, my mention of the twins was all to do with their maturity despite their youth. Maturity isn't what I perceive Christopher to possess and I continue to assert he hasn't had nastiness directed toward him to the nth degree Jedward did.It would behoove 34 year-old Christopher to shut up and forge on to greater glory with a smile on his face just the way John and Edward did and continue to do despite brickbats.
