Hello everyone and welcome back to the third series of The Mix Factor!

Exactly one week ago, fourteen international X Factor acts performed live for your votes. There were some good performances as well as less stellar ones, but in the end Australian wildcard Nathaniel Willemse was the act unfortunate enough to be at the bottom of the scoreboard when the lines closed. After that, Jade Ellis had to take on the Danish duo of Phuong & Rasmus in a shock sing-off, beating them in the public vote after the judges failed to reach a majority vote.

Tonight, your top twelve will be singing once again in a bid to win your votes! However, there's a special twist today. You see, the mentors didn't pick songs for their acts by themselves, as they were aided in the process by our four genre gurus. So tonight will not only be a battle between the judges, it will also be a battle between the genre gurus! Luckily, only one act will be leaving the competition tonight, so that's a little less pressure than before. Nevertheless, none of the judges wants to lose an act tonight!

Speaking about judges, please welcome the four amazing judges of The Mix Factor and their acts!
Judges, your intro tune for this week:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Skr76lZD5c

bboy1988 and the girls
Angel Tupai
Danielle Penning
Jade Ellis

unclekevo and the groups

jackel1234 and the over 25s

Daniel Vengsgaard

Vino Alan

And I really can't get away with not mentioning the four genre gurus as they were the main focus of tonight's theme:

Alexos as the Soul, Jazz & Blues guru

bazztheman93 as the Indie & Folk guru

_NiallDEE_ as the Mainstream Pop guru

dylanpartyon as the Rock & Alternative guru

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to face the music once again!

I'm really nervous about how the songs I suggested go down, if they get really negative comments I'll feel so bad

Stephen just told me that he won't be able to attend the show tonight, but I have his comments so at least we'll know what he has to say about tonight's performances.

I have absolutely no idea where Jack and Kev are though...

Let's just get started shall we, I'm sure they will catch up eventually.

All right, the contestant that's going to open tonight's show is one of Jack's full rack of overs. When he picked her, he said something about her voice being suited to indie songs. What would be better than asking Indie & Folk guru bazztheman93 for advice? Here's what they came up with:

Chiara Galiazzo - 'Lost & Defeated' by Sarah Blasko [Indie & Folk]

Oh, that's right.

I just checked back and that's indeed the case, I must have forgotten about the starting time as it feels like ages since the last show.

Chiara, well done for opening the show as it's never easy to go on first. For me, this was a real different side to the indie and folk style that you've done and I can see that the guru you worked with did his research, because I think that was a very interesting song choice for you. I think after tonight, you may become a darkhorse for the competition. Great start to the show, well done.

Chiara Galiazzo

Chiara last week you arrived in this competition, you came out with a fantastic performance and this week you did exactly the same. It was perfectly suited to you and your style of singing, the route I am taking you down and even your whole music style. It was another magical performance and we could hear a story through the way you sang it! Each week you continue to grow and become better and better. It genuinely astounds me how good you are and how you just sing like an angel. You’re just fantastic!

Chiara Galiazzo

Chiara that was a good opening to the show tonight. I was looking forward to seing what category your mentor would choose for you and to see if they would have taken a huge risk. I think the song choice was a good choice for you tonight, it didn’t give me the wow factor but I imagine we will be seeing more of you in the shows to come.

Chiara Galiazzo: Hey Chiara! I thought this was an alright performance by you, it was pretty good, I could definitely see the comparisons between your voice and Sarah Blasko's voice but at the same time, I don't know if this was the best Sarah Blasko song to fit your voice, it wasn't bad but by the same measure, I think something like 'All I Want' may have fitted your voice slightly better? Regardless, this was a pretty decent start to the show and I think you should be safe tonight. Good job!

I'm pretty sure it's the same indie-folk kind of route that Jack has been taking her down?

Some pretty decent comments for Chiara there, but will she get the public's support?

As it seems, Soppyfan has also gone to bazztheman93 for advice. None of his acts have done real indie or folk songs before, so this is foreign ground for the wildcards category. Hoping to impress the judges with a song from the Indie & Folk genre, it's:

Jesper - 'Maureen' by Vetiver [Indie & Folk]

Jesper

Jesper, I thought that last week you gave a good performance when you went back to a more stripped back performance and I think again this week you have given another competent performance. My only criticism was I thought the song choice was a little boring at times, but you should gain enough votes to come back for the next show.

Jesper my boy, finding a song for you was the most difficult choice I was looking for, but when I was looking for an Indie & Folk song, I found this one and I knew this was the one for you. You sang absolutely beautiful and it such a peaceful and happy performance from you. You should be safe after that one and I really hope you are, great job, my boy!

If changing the artist of the song equals changing the whole direction of an act, I think you should all just make your way through the discography of one of the 'similar artists' from last.fm.

Jesper

I am so glad your mentor took on my advice which I have said over the last few weeks about you doing a more indie styled pop but I am disappointed by this performance. I mean the song just genuinely felt like it was something you would play to get to sleep it was just so dull and the vocals of the song didn’t really give you a chance to shine and be fantastic like I know you can be with these type of songs. I actually really want you to be safe this week because I know you are capable of performing an pop/indie song better than this one. Best of luck tonight mate.

Jesper: It was nice to see your mentor going for something a little less expected this week, it was interesting to see you stripped back and just performing a simple, acoustic cover of a touching song. However, for me, it was just edging towards the snoozy side of things, the song kind of went nowhere which is always a risk when you go down the indie-folk route, it wasn't bad Jesper but I feel like you needed something a bit more stand-out.

Mixed comments for Jesper, did the public love it or did the find it to be on the "snoozy side" as Kev said?

Time for a different genre. She did a Bon Jovi song last week, and her mentor decided that he wasn't quite done giving her some well-known rock songs. After deliberating with Rock & Alternative guru dylanpartyon, girls mentor bboy1988 decided to pick a song from a well known alternative rock band. Here's the amazing:

Angel Tupai - 'Lithium' by Evanescence [Rock & Alternative]

Angel, I've enjoyed your performances so far and each one has shown huge improvement. Tonight, I commend your mentor for taking a risk by giving you a rock song. But if I'm honest, I'm not sure if you are suited for rock music as your voice is more matched with soul and RnB music. But that said, it was different and It was just as good as last week. I hope you get your momentum back next time.

Angel Tupai

Oh Angel, that was spectacular. Even though you have a big soulful voice, your vocal ability is special as it can easily lend itself to pretty much any genre. You are my little rock chick tonight and I think this is the best you have been so far in this competition and I feel that I have so much more up my sleeves for you and I hope everyone loves you as much as I do and will support you tonight.

Angel Tupai: Erm, I think this was slightly pushing it for me Angel? Last week, I appreciated the choice of song because I could see you adding your soulful edge to Bon Jovi but Evanescence is stretching our imaginations a bit too far for my liking. The fact is, Angel has a pretty deep, husky, soulful voice whereas Amy Lee is like the complete opposite, she has a really high pitched, rock voice. Much as I like that Stevie is trying to go down more innovative routes with you, there's thinking outside of the box and there's being so far out of the box, you're halfway across the Atlantic.

Mixed comments for Angel Tupai there as well, could she be facing elimination today?

Anyway, it's back the the over 25s for tonight's fourth performance! As Jack is the only mentor that still has all four of his acts, he's had to consult each of the genre gurus. The guru he consulted for Vino Alan was our magnificent Rock & Alternative guru dylanpartyon. After what I imagine must have been a long discussion (or maybe not?), this is what they settled on:

Vino Alan - 'Morning Tide' by Poets of the Fall [Rock & Alternative]
