I just see it backfiring to be honest, i think it backfired with Rylan because people really did get sick of seeing it. I just feel like they have made one big cock up after another this year

With all respect that is nonsense. I can't believe anybody in their right mind voting against a contestant for the way the programme edits their appearance unless of course you disliked that singer in the first place. Deep down if you are honest with yourself you dislike James - which prompted you to make that comment. Don't you. Admit it.

What - are they supposed to choose their guests depending on who they support?

More people like him - and there isn't much you can do about that.

Its pretty normal for me to be honest, like i explained on another thread, my taste in music has always been heavy rock , i do like the show, but over 9 years none of the music that X Factor produces is really to my taste, so I have been pretty Meh ....about most of them over the years, I enjoy the forums and the x factor site but do get royally fed up with them over promoting people, it gets up my nose lol

Im all about equality really, they start out with 12 contestants and all of them should have equal promotion, and it should stay that way through the show, I would be the exact same in any other competition. Its like ads on tv, and seeing the same one over and over, you get sick of seeing it

He also got the last slot twice during the semi-final show, which seems a bit odd to me.

Really? You seem kind of obsessed with a perceived bias that actually doesn't exist. You are even counting mentions on Facebook. If you were really meh about the lot of them as you state then you'd not be bothered. Honestly you wouldn't.

I think what your missing is, i don't hate any of them, but I don't have a fav either.

I love Christmas and always have, but I hate the way its over promoted weeks and months in advance, its over hyped and has been for many years. No difference really.

James is the most boooorrrrriiiing contestant since Leona Lewis and that it really saying something. I keep bits of the show handy just in case I need something to help me sleep. Just talking about him is making me drop off ..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I noticed that, too, and I think it's rather unfair; it's getting so obvious now that I can no longer enjoy the show

Ahahaha! Ahahahaha! I actually can't stop laughing long enough to form any rational argument. Rational argument would in any case be lost on the hysterical folks who are even now trying to make excuses for christopher flipping maloney. He's in the final, now will you just please stop flipping whinging? It's nearly stopped being funny now!

It was dalehichy who counted FB mentions apologies but even so you get the gist of the point. Those who want to see something that doesn't actually exist are usually going out of their way to look for something.

I honesty dont think it matters to be honest..i have seen the same sort of thing happen in other series ..the GBP can be quite stubborn they will vote for who they want to vote for and this online stuff is only for the few who look at it..I think the press can have more infleunce but i even that i think is becoming less effective as the X factor as a whole is becoming more tarnished with the manipulation tag

I'm not particularly a James supporter but some of the comments on here to make me laugh.
The media and personalities in the media have latched onto the fact that as a song writer and musician he is seen to be 'credible.' How long that credibility lasts after being on the show who knows.
Aside from his talent he's seen as being a bit cooler than the other two, personally I feel like thats why he is getting so much support from those in media circles.
I don't think xtra factor pick their panel due to them being James supporters.
Does that mean he'll win? Maybe . . . or it might make Jahmene and Chris' supporters vote twice as much.
Either way if he gets the votes then he is the winner and I'd rather see talent win the show than someone who people are using to make their own point against the show.

Agree with this, advertising can work for or against. Its like standard tv ads, you may have a run for weeks or months for a new shampoo out , you will get some of the audience who have seen it over and over and decide, i must try that new shampoo, but you will get another section of the audience who get sick of the sight of seeing it and wont buy it, its a double edged sword that could go both ways

Simon said he wants him to win - of course he's going to be the star they focus on.

Yes, I read that too and it puts me off completely.
Everybody can favour who they want and I actually quite like James, even though I prefer Jahmene.
But when things are becoming so obvious and one contestant is favoured so openly why should anybody waste their money on voting any more?

But there is a touch of desperation about it all. If he was genuinely the standout performer this year and topping the votes, they wouldn't even need to engage in this blatant and shameless favouritism.

Cowell is giving the game away by his actions that he fears Chris is going to win.

That may well be the case.

What I don't get is why James doesn't seem to get the votes he deserves. His Twitter following is more than twice as big as Jahmene's, probably bigger than Jahmene's and Christopher's together.

He's too much of a "marmite" character IMO. An angst ridden singer / songwriter with a guitar is not going to be to everyone's taste on a light entertainment show, far from it in fact.

Chris and Jahmene are nearer to the mainstream and I've a feeling they're pulling in more votes.

I think so too, but all he really needs to do is ask his over 800000 followers to vote for him. If they do he'll probably win, I think.
I checked his Twitter, he actually asked them to vote so why don't they? Especially as they like him well enough to follow him on Twitter.
