Hello from Geek Nation Tours and thank you for letting us join your forum. As lovers of Dr. Who we are planning on adding a Dr. Who tour to our Geeky 2013 tour line-up. Geek Nation Tours is a holiday company for Geeks by Geeks. We create holidays for people wanting to travel to only the very best in Geeky destinations and events. You can see more information at: http://www.geeknationtours.com/

So why are we bothering you on your forum? Well we need your help! We would like to ask you if you were to go traveling for Dr. Who where would you like to go and what would you like to see?

Basically we divide tour planning into three categories:

Film Sites: Are there any filming sites or locales that you would like to see?

Destinations: Would you like to go to London, Cardiff? Where geographically would you like to visit on a Dr. Who Tour?

Events and parks: Is there a particular event, convention or park you would like to visit? This can be anything from Gallifrey One to the Dr. Who Experience in Cardiff Bay

We think this would make a great discussion in general and we would really appreciate your input. 

Again thank you for the means to contact other Dr. Who fans however if this thread is in anyway a disturbance to the normal flow of the forum please let us know. I understand the concern about letting a business on to a forum so please just let us know if you wish we would not proceed.

For those of you that want to contact us directly please email at: headgeek@geeknationtours.com

All the Best,

What a brilliant idea! Of course, your tour would involve quite a few quarries I imagine

Well thank you

Maybe one or two choice quarries....lol but I was thinking more like a run from Parliament across Westminster Bridge to the London Eye (as per "Rose").

I just did that walk with my Miniatures in England tour last September...

Also in Dalek Invasion of Earth... The Thames riverside is awash with locations. Butler's Wharf is immediately recognisable from Classic Who and has great cafés and shops nearby.

Here, try this.

I’ve been writing things down for an hour now and I haven’t even started with ‘Classic’ Who yet. If you haven’t discovered it by now, this is the site you need for reference.
(They seem to have some technical trouble today.)

How about a weekend break in Trogir, Croatia where scenes from Vincent and The Doctor and the Vampires of Venice were filmed. This could be instantly popular if Vincent were to return at any time. Or a Vincent themed Amsterdam / Dutch tour.

For a Cardiff based tour here's my wish list :-

Tredegar House - They have been considering a DW tour of the House for sometime. It may be worth contacting them. The End of Time’s pivotal Gate and radiation scenes, follow the route of the “Worst Rescue Ever !!” The Human Nature school, The Next Doctor’s stables and courtyard and many many more...”SALT ! I need something salty....”

The Ponds’ Houses. - That cemetery could become quite popular too.

Bannerman Road , Donna’s House and the ‘Turn Left’ - All close together. The owners’ of Donna’s house charge visitors a quid for a tour and still have a formica table from ‘The End of Time' the Props Dept. never collected.

The Powell Estate - Visiting to lay wreaths where Doc 10 fell in the snow one last time.

Temple of Peace & Glamorgan Building - The End of the World’s Platform One where Nu-Who first paraded it’s alien making talents. The Pompeii Pyrophile Temple and the Silurian Senate Chamber all in one. The Glamorgan Building is just around the corner. Capt Jack’s first appearance, Victory of the Daleks rooftop scenes and Blink statues.

Dyffryn Gardens - The Gardens of Versailles in Glamorgan, and River’s final resting place in Forest of the Dead. though the Ballroom was filmed at Ragby Hall, Warwickshire. I wonder if they’ll use it again some day.

Brangwyn Hall, Swansea - Also used for Silence in the Library and The Big Bang.

And while in Warwick, Lord Leycester's Hospital is a good, but small, place to visit (Shakespearean London, scenes outside the theatre).

Thank you so much for all the posts and I will definately check that "locations" website... The tour planning is really coming together now....

What about events? Are there any that you would like to see above others?

Any chance to meet cast and crew would be brilliant. Trips to exhibitions maybe the DW Experience?
