So, Kiki's grandmother was the one agreeing to her being on the show.

Not it's solved, Charlie's mother was the one giving the green light for Kiki to be on the show. Why does Charlie blame the producers then, the adult responsible for Kiki agreed to it.

She was objecting to Kiki getting upset when not seeing her (when her grandmother understood she would get to see her) rather than her being used on the show itself I think.

Who told her Kiki would get to see her Mum? It was a task, nobody knew what doors Charlie and Eric would open!

The blame for Kiki being upset at not seeing her mum lies with her grandmother for allowing her to take part in the task.

She's whinging about winning now!

Before IAC - Charlie was one of the few people from EE I liked. She's getting on my nerves now as much as the rest of them.

Well if her point is that her grandmother didn't know Kiki wouldn't get to see her then clearly her grandmother either was misled about what would happen, didn't fully understand the task or didn't care.

You takes your choice.

How old is the kid? She looks to be about Primary School age. I thought you weren't allowed to take kids out of school other than in school holidays ... or is it OK for some?

Charlie didn't take over the role until she was 17, so I doubt she did

I had this discussion with a friend today, one rule for some and another for the rest of us like you say I'd imagine.

Too much is being made about this. So what if she didn't get to see her mother for five minutes, I'm sure thats not going to traumatise her, if it does then shes in for a tough life.

I'm sure children get more upset having to go to school. She'll forget about all this in a few days she may already have forgotten about it. That is unless she's constantly reminded about it or she's told that she should be upset by it.

BIB I totally agree, at 7 you don't remember little incidents like that for long. Life's tough, she best get a helmet.

You don't know some things stick with you even little stupid things.

I agree for the most part but when people say she was going to see her in a few days anyway forget for a child of her age a few days can be a lifetime.

Well if she's that sensitive then her grandmother should have taken the decision not to allow her onto the show. However I'm sure Charlie's consent would have had to be given prior to the show for her to appear at all.
She didn't aseem too traumatised in her phonecall or when she came to meet Charlie after the show, just a normal 7 year old little girl.

I don't think you even have to be sensitive just that some things stick with you.

I doubt she will be traumatised over it though

My point is , that Charlie seems to think the producers took it too far, while her own mother agreed to Kiki being on the show.

It's compulsory for children to be educated. It is for the parents to choose whether this should be at school or out of school. I think that if a parent takes a child out of school for a few weeks they need to arrange for someone to teach the child what he or she would have been taught at school.

This gives information on the legal side of things:

As for the school thing I live at a seaside resort and I see many many kids here during time they should be at school so it's not just her.

Plus her trip to Australia she may have been asked to do a project on it

I imagine that Kiki goes to a private school, not sure if that would make a difference, but it might- money talks and all that. Either way, I can't see the social services being called in for non attendance.

I agree that Charlies Mother and Charlie herself should take some of the responsibility for what happened in that task. The Grandmother must have understood that they may not have picked the right door and explained that to the little girl and Charlie knew all along that Kiki may have been used in a task as when someone said to her 'it might have been your mum' she was replied that it would definitely have been Kiki. So, she did 'sign her daughter up for it' in a way.

Added to that without Kiki-doorgate tugging at the heartstrings she possibly wouldn't have won. So she's not coming from the moral high ground when criticising the producers.

But they all lose their prospectives a bit when they come out of there, everything seems like a big deal, so she can be somehwat excused. The public outcry was way OTT though

I dunno what all the fuss was about. I know she missed her mum, but she was going to see her in a few days and she was on a fab holiday, and it's not like she picked a pizza instead....

Maybe she thought her mother shouldn't have been put in that position either, us grannie's tend to give in to our grandchildren too easily.

I for one, being a good person, me (unlike some others I could mention and, fear them, name), am heartened to my cackles and warmed in my soul to see this continue to occupy the fine and kin-concerned minds of those nearly as caring as I...

The sooner and to some degree certainer (a decent {in both senses of the word} suspicion, will suffice) we can get those responsible for Kiki's traumatic turn against the wall, in the centrodepublic... for to send hail of vengeful ballistics.

The better.

Carry on 'til carrion, Brothers & Sisters. 'Tis God's hand that guide you, surely.

I wasn't having a go at you. Last week on the radio it was also mentioned, and I thought'here we go again, another case of BGT are the contestants too young to appear on talent shows'.I agree with what you've said.

Yes, the grandmother should have refused but the task was set by the producers. It shouldn't even have been considered imo. What warped minds those producers have.

Ok. I just got annoyed with the headlines, that the show went too far, when I am 100% sure it was all explained to both the grandmother and Kiki, and no real harm came out of it.
Kiki most likely had a REALLY nice trip, and the small amount of discomfort she had when she didn't see her mother for sure was gone soon.
