Going by ur username...you're not on this occasion! The thread is talking about his achievement ina worthy cause which he has been campaigning for a while now......interviewing techniques and childlike giggles doesn't have any bearing on what he is doing and what he can/will do in years to come. The organizers were aware of his persona, I'm sure, and yet he has been accepted to head the worthy cause.
If it does become a problem, for both him and the charity/cause in question, I am sure this could be remedied in due course!!!!

Thanks Cassy - that is exactly what I mean! Yes, he probably wouldnt have been made a new ambassador for the cause he is involved in had it not been for x factor, but I think it's a possitive thing. As for canvassing votes, I doubt that is the reason he is doing it. I'm sure he would love to win (IMO), but I'm also sure (IMO)that he will go far outside the show even if he doesn't win. Don't know much about this sort of thing, but wouldn't he have been asked or awarded/given the new ambassador role? Surely, he didnt ask for it?!

I've no doubt it will, but some people refuse to see the possitives in things and always have to assume there is an alterior motive (ie canvassing more votes) It's such a shame. I'm glad there have been nice comments in repy, I was a bit wary posting this in case I had such a negative response from everyone but if there's anything possitive to come out of this year's x-factor it is this news

I'd say it's more a clever PR tactic on behalf of the charity to maximise awareness that the news has come out now, people are already aware of Jahmene's story so I don't think it will affect his vote really.
Like you say I'm sure he'd have accepted the role offered whether he wins or doesn't.
Whatever the reason it is a worthy charity to be a part of.

I found the interview thoroughly embarrassing. Completely wrong to happen before the final and so obviously done on purpose. His use of the song Ella sang as an example of exploitation was wide of the mark and he has a very narrow minded approach. Whilst I am sorry for his problems in life and for his loss I think that this was a very unfair advantage to put him on with Phillip and Holly at this stage. Why not after the programme has finished. His girly giggling is so annoying.

I know it's brilliant Cassey, don't blame the charity for doing that, more awareness the better!!

Why is it wrong that he has principles? Just because they're narrow to you doesn't mean they're narrow to everyone.
Personally I haven't a problem with Ella singing those lyrics, and if she did I'm sure she'd have said.
I haven't seen the interview so I can't comment but if he was stating how it made him feel then why not? He flat out refused to sing another song and that's his perogative.
He has explained his giggling before is a nervous reaction.

True that lots of people have principles. I don't see how Jahmene's views are ''extreme'' or ''rigid''. How is taking a stand against domestic violence extreme or rigid?!

He's not afraid to express his opinion or to stand up for what he believes in, that's a good thing IMO.

I'm not talking about taking a stand against domestic violence , I'm talking about him refusing to be part of a group number as he doesn't approve of a 16 year old singing sexual lyrics just because he has particular views about sex

Totally disagree with this post.
I saw the interview and I thought Jahmene came across as a lovely young man who has principles and would not compromise himself.
Good for him.
It takes courage to stand up against the majority.

You are entitled to you're opinion as i am to mine!!! IF HE was uncomfortable being part of the performance he had a right to withdraw from it, i didnt say he should have demanded Ella not take part. He stood up for what HE felt, and IMO that took guts and is quite refreshing.

Considering Jahmene's upbringing which I think most would consider to be anything but society's view of 'normal.' He seems pretty well adjusted.
