I think if Olly does well in the States then it's a slap in the face to Robbie Williams who in my opinion has/had far better songs and is a great entertainer.
Olly to me just seems like a poor imitation who uses the Robbie persona but is by far less witty/original/interesting but at the same time it's good to see Brit acts do well in the States so if he improves on #96 which is where Heart Skips a Beat charted then fair play.

Also the rip off of Maroon 5 really bugs me and Misery charted at #14 in the US 2010 (why so many picked up on it straight away) so like the above post mentions is still fairly recent which won't do him any favours.

It was thankfully a relatively rare example of a song spending 2 weeks (so far) at no 1 in the UK. I shall refrain from describing the person it reminds me of here though!

Well if the song flopped for Maroon 5 what chance did Olly have

But being serious the song has no promtion so its not surprising.

LOL!!

Olly Murs isnt very "American friendly" is he?? I honestly cant see him making it in America. You can see why someone like Jessie J or even Rita Ora might become popular in America... but Olly Murs?

3 music videos of "heart skip a bit" and good promotion were not even enought for the single to have so kind of success so it's not surprising

That's a shame, I was hoping we might get a bit of a rest from him in the UK!

I'd suggest the OP is pleased rather than surprised?
