Cats been in another fight and injured again

My cat was in a fight a few weeks ago and got an infected bite and it's only just healed. He came in this morning with a bloody ear and loads of ginger hair stuck to it (he's black and white) so I know he's been fighting again with the resident cat bully.

He didn't seem bothered by it and was purring round my legs for his breakfast, but wasn't interested in cleaning himself up.

Do they leave it a while before attempting to clean it to let the cut fuse? I don't think I want to go trying to clean it myself incase I do more damage?

Take him to the vet.The same thing happened to one of my cats and she got a nasty abcess. Good luck.

Clean it with hibiscrub (if you got given a bottle last time) , salt water if not.

Keep a very close eye on it - if it is a shallow wound hopefully it will heal by itself but if it looks red, swollen or inflamed then you will need the vet- or if cat seems of colour at all (cat teeth inject bacteria deep into the cut so you can't always see local (the site of the bite) infections so have to watch for other symptoms)

Got to ask - has your cat been castrated? If so, friends of my parents had a cat that was fixed but still kept getting into fights. Log story short, he had an undescended testicle that the incompetent first vet left behind. Different cat after the retained testicle was removed. Much more placid. I ask as it is unusual for a neuter boy to fight.

Neuter girls however
