Pet/DIY advice required :)

I have a UPVC back door that I wish to put a cat flap into but I'm unsure where to start. As the house is rented I want to remove the current panel in the door and keep it to put back in when I move out.

So I need to figure out how to remove the current one as I've found a company from whom I can buy a new one but I need to give them the dimensions. Then I'll need to fit the new one once a friend's husband has cut the hole for the cat flap.

Any advice/tips?? I'm pretty clueless. I'm sure my friend's husband would help but I feel guilty enough him cutting the cat flap as I've never even met him!

No idea I would suggest the advice forum may help you though as this is a DIY question rather than a pet one really. Good luck with it anyway.

I got a man in to do mine. Cost me £40, which included the price of the cat flap

Be easier to get the new panel fitted when you move out, otherwise you've got to take the bottom panel off twice. Once now, and then once when you move out, whereas if you just change it when you leave, it only gets done once.

I too got a handy man to fit mine, this time in getting a glazier as its a glass door. You can get them to o the whole thing (ie fit the panel, the flap etc)

As a bloke, maybe I'm shallow or something, but if someone needed a hand with such a thing and asked politely - without expectation - for help I'd be only to happy to help. So, why not ask your friend to ask her husband his advice for removing the panel, you might find that he's perfectly happy to pop over and have a look - and it might help him size up the job for cutting the flap.
