Is Beyonce's Career one big planned show?
Look Beyonce is one of the most incredibly talented ladies, however her career just seems so staged and planned, like everything that she does, where she goes, and her future is already planned. I think she has no control whatsoever. Does anyone agree ?

I agree everything seems very militant and to the letter some could say it's being a perfectionist but i think it's more to do with control and planning not sure if she calls the shots or not.
I know in DC it was all about her naturally as her father was the manager and the other girls weren't treated as equals apart from Kelly who is B's cousin. That group were definately staged and planned in everything they did. I think she has record sales behind her as a solo artist to hold her own choices to an extent but i find her very disconnected for me and not relatable in her demeanour (mainly on stage but doesn't have much personality in interviews either in my opinion). Her songs in my opinion are just bad for the level is is at and sales. Just loads of femminist songs which is quite dull, boring and uninspired after a while. |

you mean the narcissistic film she is making to relaunch her self [no doubt because of RiRi], and the 90s show she is going to put on for the superbowl????
she is so obviously stuck in a timewarp and has now moved musically or show wise into to the 21st century. everytime i see her overtop performance i just cant help think "oh God not again" |

Regarding Destiny's Child, I don't understand why people say things like "Beyonce took all the attention" etc. Of course she did...Beyonce WAS the band. It was always all about Beyonce, she was the star of the group. The original girls didn't like it, left and made up silly stories. Kelly and Michelle were happy to stay. Nobody ever said the group wasn't all about Beyonce. It was from day one and that's the whole point.
With regards to the music side of things...in the past 12 years or so she has released some incredible Rnb songs and had some fantastic hits, both with DC and on her own: Bills, Bills, Bills Say My Name Survivor Independent Women Bootylicious Jumpin Jumpin Lose My Breath Crazy In Love Baby Boy Naughty Girl Deja Vu Irreplaceable Listen Beautiful Liar If I Were A Boy Single Ladies Halo Sweet Dreams Best Thing I Never Had Countdown Love On Top End Of Time And the above are just what I can think of off the top of my had. There is no female out there today who can perform better than her. She's at the top of her game. Also, what I love about her is that she's not all over Twitter begging people to buy her music like most other artists do now days, which in my opinion is pathetic. She also goes away and spends time making each album...she doesn't churn out album after album, with the quality getting worse (*Cough* Rihanna)!! Her music also has an original sound to it and doesn't sound generic. Take her single Countdown for example...it's fresh, it's original sounding. In my opinion, she's fantastic and at the top of her game. Of course everything is planned...you don't become as big as Beyonce without planning. They all do it. Regarding control...she has HUGE control over her career. She manages herself now and as all her documentaries show, she is the boss of literally everything!! |

It is the documentary that actually made me think of making the thread it all seems so very controlled by management ie trying to make her seem like a normal girl. Look I LOVE Beyonce's music, it is just I think her career is planned completely for her.

i can not deny the girl`s talent Some cracking songs w/ DC & solo and a cracking entertainer but there is something that has never sat right with her for me something "fake" i can`t put my finger on it tbh,
i do however like her music and very much looking forward to her new material (as long as she doesn`t rope in jay z on any tracks) lolz i do find that a bit annoying tbh |

![]() The documentary is a little gift back for her fans who some feel like she is a bit too private when it comes to the social sites. It's nice that we have a celebrity who knows how to control her private life. She decides on the matters she wants to reveal. to Zone: She has a great soul and so down to earth and I won't forget the time I met her. You only have to look at what her peers say about her genuine and humble personality. x |

Beyonce is not in control of her career. 4 proved this. At the time of Girls (Run The World) she was bragging about how she had created a new genre. Yet Run The World died on its ass then the record label clearly played it safe by choosing the songs they did for the album. None of them were a new genre. Infact the majority were crap. Did she have any hits this era?
Plus her history as a song writer is well known about. She takes credits on tracks she never had any imput in. There is so much power behind Beyonce though that many dare not take her on. I agree with the above poster about the fakeness. Its like she has this clearful image of her being so perfect all the time. Its not the case at all. I bet in private she is more ruthless than Madonna is. People always pin the first Destiny's Child break up on her father but the two girls fired have always claimed different. I admit she can perform but her idols Tina Turner and Janet Jackson do it better and most of Beyonce's career has been lifted from these two. The whole 'I Am' era may as well have been called a Janet homage. |

If this is directed at me then I could probably say the same about you and your constant blind defence of her.
If anything in my post is wrong in your opinion then please take the time to address it so I can reply in a mature manner. |

I'm not the bigeest fan of B's solo stuff but I don't think there's anything wrong with her career being being managed to the smallest detail. Some artists' careers have completely died based on one or two stupid decisions they made.
Having said that, It would be nice to see a more fun, carefree side to her sometimes. i wouldn't expect her to start falling out of clubs drunk or anything (that's never been her style anyway) but she can come across as a bit too rehearsed and stoic (sp?) sometimes. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TS6qU4lfdBs In the video, she mentions Fela Kuti, The stylistics, Lauryn Hill, Stevie wonder, Michael Jackson. If you look at the names and her album, you would clearly see parallels with songs like End of time, countdown, love on top, I miss you and so on. On Run the world. Diplo said the song wasn't taken seriously for the album and it started as a joke. So the direction of the album wasn't towards the sound of Run The World even though the Major Lazer beat has a bit of Fela Kuti. Diplo was originally there for End of Time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/17907948 Quote:
You seem to always mention this point when I had previously given you links of people like Ne-yo and BC Jean who said the rumours aren't true but you still want to believe fox news... The only lawsuit Beyonce was convicted of was the des'ree and it wasn't about writing credits. It was because Beyonce added to the title and made a video for the song. Personality: I have met Beyonce a couple of years back and she was ever so nice to us. She had made her way to come and see us after the concert. You would struggle to hear any of her peers say a bad word about her. They always say how genuine she is without being phony. You only have to listen to our british girls like Adele, Leona, Burke, Rita Ora, Florence Welch. But i guess being nice and genuine to people nowadays would be interpreted as being fake. Quote:
![]() Let's look at "I AM" era. If I were a boy = I can't see Tina Turner or Janet Jackson. Halo = Tina Turner / Janet? Really?! Single Ladies = Nothing like Tina and dance style different than Janet. Janet dance style is militant which Beyonce has only ever done it once in her career and it was during Ring The alarm in 2006. When have you ever seen Janet dance in heels doing the J-Setting dance style?!!! I am sorry but your Beyonce posts are always of the same tone. I wouldn't be shocked to see the same points being made in a different thread. |

I have always found her career too planned and at times, too safe. Interesting to see others have picked up on this. I would like to state I am not a Beyonce hater but i feel her presence and her so called legacy are very questionable within the music world. The way people make her out to be one of the greats when she isn't. She is one of the most respected female artists around today but I fail to see how.

All you have highlighted in that post da3bool is Beyonce saying things herself to save face and protect this ever so perfect image she has created for herself. She is hardly going to come out and admit something in an interview! Interestingly I am not the only one saying this but I am the only one who you have an issue with... perhaps you know there is truth in what I have posted and you don't like it.
As for your response to the I Am era. Beyonce cited Janet as an influence herself for that project. Hence the whole Rhythm Nation look and golden glove. Also dismissing Tina's influence really??? Beyonce performs like Tina does to the letter. Infact Beyonce is often compared to Tina.. They have the exact same performance style. |

Does she even have one? what did she do within the music industry to create a legacy?? Lady Gaga in four years has a bigger legacy than Beyonce has in 14. |

and don't worry, you are not the only one. I don't want to name people but we have a few people on this forum who just don't like Beyonce. You can see it on every post they make about her.

I cited that I think Tina and Janet perform better than Beyonce (her biggest influences) and you went off on a rant about how she shouldn't exist just because they did. You missed my point completely because you just wanted yet another row. |
