You are super talented and style is unique, stop lowering yourself by making comments on twitter.

On Xtra factor this weekend Stephen Mulhern (who i think is hysterical when he gets going!) commented saying Matt Cardle is better artist than James.

James has gone and put this on his twitter :-

James Arthur‏@JamesArthur23: Mulhern clearly knows his stuff comparing me to Matt Cardle... :s

James is just coming across as bitter, sour and defensive by responding its kinda making him unlikable. He should just let his talent/performance do the talking.

It was widely reported that Stephen compared him to Matt Cardle.

He is not really anything like Matt Cardle.

James made a sarcastic comment indicating that Stephen knows his stuff for the incorrect comparison.

What's the deal?

I tend to agree with you, he hasnt quite "made it" yet and IMo should just keep his head down and get the job done, i do have a feeling that whoever wins this series will be short lived in the public eye!!! poor series!

This is why we continually get dull winners. Keep his head down? Not be himself? Not say anything? why?

How is it sour, bitter or defensive to point out someone is totally wildly incorrect with a comparison? It's just natural.

I do wonder what motivates people to want others to be silent puppets? How boring is that

Yes he should keep his head down!! Getting to big for his boots already which may be his downfall. Should just let his music do the talking, as hard as it maybe he just needs to bit his lip for now if celebs comments are getting to him.

No I dont want him to be a puppet BUT at the start of your career IMO this would be the wisest thing to do right now.

I love James Arthur's sound, look, talent but I have a very strong feeling that he will self destruct......ego will take over, I can see drink/drug related issues and diva strops? I don't know why I think that, I just do?

BECAUSE!!! FOR ME!!! I do not like when someone is up their own @rse before they have actually achieved something!!! HE entered a POPULARITY contest!! HE would be aware on SAID popularity contest numerous people are ASKED their opinion, they are entitled to it, it is then up to HIM to prove them wrong!!! K

Where do you draw the idea replying to such a comment makes someone ''up their own @rse'' ? I do not get it it.
Similar to sour and bitter remarks by the OP how are they sour or bitter? It is mindless to suggest it's anything of these things.

Basically you want to strip someone off their personality and human emotion because you're too fickle to like someone with these natural things? Really?

It's better to be quiet and dull than have a personality that might lead people to proclaim ''you're up your own @rse'' how dare you think you can reply to a worldwide star like stephen whoever no matter how wrong he is?

This is a pathetic mindset. I don't care if someone is famous or not, made it or not made it, if someone labels something at you, you can always respond however you choose to.

the only thing i dont like about him is the fact he keeps saying "im not suited to the x factor" when really he's nothing different to what we have had before, he's not picking out there song choices, each week he takes a song and plays the guitar, its nothing new or anything.

Be careful who you kick on the way up, James, they'll kick you twice as hard on the way down

THIS!! + IMO James thinks he is too cool for this show, winning is no certainty to success and i just think he should hang fire and let his talent do the talking!! He is NOT my cup of tea but seems really popular, it seems many think XF as naff!! I feel he could drop the XF "naffness" easier if he just concentrates on his music at the moment and let the drivel pass him by.

You obviously dont get my point in my OP.
Yes James can respond anyway he wants to, Im basically saying it would be WISE at the beginning of you career to keep schtum for now.

Respond later once you have a no.1 album and singles ect.. which I believe he will achieve but at the moment you are STILL in the competition without a record deal under your belt dont count your chickens before they hatch.

Thanks for agreeing.

Im basically saying and advising him to come across as the bigger person, but at 23 I think he needs a little more growing up to do.

And I dunno what I was thinking " giving advice" as if he has time to read this forum ... but we never know .... and I just felt the need to comment.

That's not what he said....

He said he didn't think he would suit the show and that he would be embraced/go as far as he has.

The voters do favor the safe, boring ballad singers over anything else....that, you cannot deny. It's actually a miracle he's made the final and i'm sure he's also baffled by it.

Christopher Maloney was compared to Michael Buble. Don't see him complaining.

To me this isn't even about James in particular. Just this mindset that having a personality is a bad thing. You need a personality to get somewhere in the industry yet having one is a handicap on the x-factor. It's the main issue between the huge disconnect correlation in votes & sales

It's a well known saying, didn't know Cheryl Cole had used it! But seems even more suited if she did!

Hah! It's Buble that should be complaining!

Anyways, James, get the impression he thinks he's better than X-Factor a la Matt Cardle. And we all know how that worked out.

I also think it's better not to get drawn into an argument unless you know you can totally dominate.
