You really don't get it, do you?
A release isn't platinum unless it is certified by BPI. Letters is not. End of. What is the source for the 300,000 shipping claim, in any event? Credible Cardle? ![]() Nice to know you are "sure" about the other artists. That settles it, then. ![]() Not sure why you trying to change this thread into all about Matt Cardle this is all about the the management of the x factor winners I am not sure about the early series but i do think Joe was badly managed ..he was totally overshadowed by the promo olly got that year ..has a great voice and a good live singer Ok maybe he did not fit the pop mould but surely his management should have looked at that ..i know the X factor is advertised as finding a pop star but the reality is that the pure "pop" act dont always win the show and management should adapt For example lucy who was put through this year..if she had stayed and won they would have to had a whole different approach |

POT, KETTLE, BLACK "the record company must pay a fee to the BPI and they carry out an audit into the release in question".
The point is BPI and only BPI can confer platinum status. Until they do, any claim of a platinum release is simply that: a claim. Letters is not a platinum album. |

I think the reason why the show seems to be plummeting is because people are all too aware that the result/winner doesn't even matter anymore.
Now it's coming back to haunt the show. |

Alexandra.
Such potential, and completely wasted.

Now it's coming back to haunt the show. Ironic though that part of the reason the result doesn't matter is that the voters don't seem to support the winners once they win. Management can't be blamed for that. |

I think all the winners have been badly managed so it's hard to pick the worst one.
Um, on paper Shayne was probably the most marketable one with great potential so I reckon that was the biggest failure. I mean, he was super hot and could sure as hell sing - and always in tune, unlike the vocally challenged trio of munters we have this year. ![]() Still, I can't help but wonder whether timing was a factor with Shayne. In truth, 2005-2006 was an odd year in pop music. A transitional year, if you wish, with few or any major standouts or phenomenons. The Timberlake thing had already peaked a year or two earlier, and the likes of Rihanna and Lady Gaga weren't around yet. Perhaps Shayne was a year too late? |

Leon - went down the obvious, swing pop route and didn't market him much to my knowledge. Shame because I liked Dont Call this Love.
Joe - Electro pop album then opera. Eh? It's a bit random but the opera pop seems to be working for him so I guess it's okay. Matt- really really had potential. Starlight should have been the lead single. Shayne -was a bit better managed but still think he could have been a lot more popular he had that very popular Justin timberlake thing going on. I think it could have worked out really well for him. |

Yeah. He should have been the first superstar to emerge from the X Factor. As big as Leona eventually became, easily.

Timing and luck comes into to play for the majority of xf acts. Also the sound/genre they go for post XF.. |

One of the issues for people like Joe and Leon is simply to do with budgeting. Their first singles flopped and their albums sold way beyond what would be needed to make money. And so immediately, the budget strings are tightened.

Shayne Ward should have done better, he was great (still is I expect). I did read something about him having a lot of voice problems though, healthwise, so that may have something to do with it.

Shayne Ward.
To me he had the total package to be a big male pop star. Major fail by Syco! |

I firmly believe leon ruined it for himself. His appearance on the X Factor was car crash tv. He was so nervous. I am sure he would have been better in a boy band to help with the nerves. Shame as I loved his voice. It really had a lovely tone to it but then we already had Michael Buble so not sure we needed an inferior one

It's interesting to note that all of these people, even with disastrous careers, have sold more out of the gate than Tulisa has, solo.

Joe fourth album didn't get the publicity it deserved. I think it is great but I do think a few more up-tempo songs would have balanced it a bit more. The covers chosen are fine and he does a fantastic job singing them, particularly Love of My Life and Somethings Gotten Into My Heart.
