Have I missed something here?
Helen is a nice person who doesn't harm others isn't she?

She is indeed. She might not be a perfect person, with perfect parents, but she has a kind heart, which is more than can be said for some of these judgemental types.

She was prepared to starve her fellow campmates

Starvation, lol! A bit of an exaggeration.

She's a self centered attention seeker who put herself before her starving campmates and expected everyone to show her sympathy for trying to pull a fast one on everyone and thought she could turn on the waterworks to get people to feel sorry for her. She acted like a spoiled child who couldn't be arsed to do anything but soon realised that people wouldn't put up with it.

Then when she came out she played up to her soft parents again turning on the tears as they gave it the whole, 'there there darling, don't listen to all the nasty people' instead of giving her a kick up the backside and told to get a grip which is something she obviously needs.

If you allow people like this to get all their own way and keep playing in to their hands and giving them the attention they want then they will continue to act like spoiled kids when they things don't go their way.

It's a quality I simply can't stand in adults and something you might expect off a child. For those reasons alone it's enough for me not to like her.

Didn't you get the memo?

She's the spawn of the devil responsible for the breakdown of society.....

Very harsh, and you misused the word "starving" again.

I agree with all of the above.

I've just watched last night's programme on ITV Player and come to the conclusion that the woman hasn't learned a thing from her time in camp. She's still blind to her faults.

She's a kind-hearted girl, though, which to me is worth more than many other things.

Why is she kind-hearted? even her parents were saying they hoped to see her more often, if she were kind-hearted she would make sure she saw more of her parents.

If she was as kind hearted as you say that she is, why did she refuse to even try a couple of the trials? A kind hearted person would never have made their camp mates suffer, as she did. She watched them go hungry without a care, she gave it a hundred percent and did her best, her best to deprive them of food other than rice and beans.

Not very kind hearted at all, just selfish and vain.

They WERE starving. Some said that the rice and beans were making them want to throw up. Not something you can afford to do when you've got very little on your stomach. But she couldn't care less and never even bothered to try for the most part and expected everyone to show her sympathy and pander to her when she couldn't even be bothered. She's obviously so used to getting her own way at home. She's a grown woman who acts like a spoiled child. If that's harsh then tough. As Charlie said, she needs a bit of tough love. She needs to grow up and start taking responsibilities.

Now I'm confused. I thought the problem was that the parents are ruining her life. Now you're telling me she doesn't see them enough.

I take issue with your use of the word starving.

Well I haven't said that her parents are ruining her life I think they may have spoilt her over the years but we are talking about them not seeing her very much now. They said it, not me.

It's natural for a young woman to want to become independent of her parents and spend more time with her boyfriend. I don't think that can be seen as selfish behaviour.

They can visit her parents together you know, not just Helen.

Yes. It means beyond peckish. Beyond simply feeling hungry.

They were losing weight dramatically. Therefore they were starving hungry. I see what your getting at. They weren't being totally starved as they still had rice and beans but nutrition wise they were on the brink of just being able to survive. You know exactly what I'm saying so don't be so pedantic.

No, you still don't get what starving means. Yes, I do know exactly what you're saying, but I don't agree with it. Don't be so dogmatic.

Not often enough according to her parents. Maybe she visits every day, once a week or maybe even once a year but not enough for her parents who obviously adore her.

Maybe they have unreasonable expectations.

The nauseating moralising from some on here on here is becoming a joke.

She seems a perfectly pleasant young woman who's never done any harm to anyone. She never spoke badly to anyone on the program (apart from Eric where she stood up for herself) and has said nothing but kind things since leaving.

As someone who seems to have suffered psychological problems in the recent past. She seems to be a good example of how someone can overcome them and make a decent life for themselves.

Good luck to her.”

You'd think that she'd invaded Poland, then gone on to assassinate Ghandi, JFK, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy - and anyone else you may care to mention!

She's a bit spoilt! So what? What about these parents who 'can't believe my son only got a 'c' in his English exam - lets demand a re-mark!' Bloody hell. People ought to get a grip. All decent parents are guilty of spoiling their children in one way or another. There are worse things parents can do than spoil a child. Starve them, let their partners beat them to death, ignore them - but no - being loving and a little bit soft is a much worse crime according to DS.

As you say - its an entertaining and inconsequential TV show. So they had to live on rice and beans for a few days - well Colin and Rosemary were delighted with their weight loss. Maybe its about time some of us all thought about eating less!

Helen Flanagan is a nice girl. As Eric said - as daft as a brush - but thats the worst she is and as far as I can remember - being daft wasn't a hanging offence!

Great post imo at least she is not bitchy or two faced which are worse offences in my book.
