Didn t they all sign up to take part in Im a celeb, don t other years complain about the lack of food. Biggins lost 2st. so they cannot have had much food either. As for blaming her parents, she didn t upset anybody on purpose, everybody seemed to really like her. She hasn t bad mouthed anyone since coming out [not even Eric]

I think you could also argue they were not prisoners if they were really so ill from lack of food they could have walked at any time but they were well and fed enough to stay

You're right. They probably have higher expectations of her because she's been a successful actress for over half her life.

Her parents obviously aren't going to start criticising her where the cameras are. If they do tell her, they'll wait until she's back home.

She's a bit spoilt! So what? What about these parents who 'can't believe my son only got a 'c' in his English exam - lets demand a re-mark!' Bloody hell. People ought to get a grip. All decent parents are guilty of spoiling their children in one way or another. There are worse things parents can do than spoil a child. Starve them, let their partners beat them to death, ignore them - but no - being loving and a little bit soft is a much worse crime according to DS.

As you say - its an entertaining and inconsequential TV show. So they had to live on rice and beans for a few days - well Colin and Rosemary were delighted with their weight loss. Maybe its about time some of us all thought about eating less!

Helen Flanagan is a nice girl. As Eric said - as daft as a brush - but thats the worst she is and as far as I can remember - being daft wasn't a hanging offence!”

It's a quality I simply can't stand in adults and something you might expect off a child. For those reasons alone it's enough for me not to like her.”

Jeez
Calm down. Her being spoilt (if she is) doesnt affect you does it? Do you know her?

I still can't see what all the fuss about that girl is all about

Just caught up with this post. It seems to sum her up very well.

Hmmm. Yes, if the only yardsticks are to spoil or starve, then yes, spoiling is the lesser of the 2 evils. However, spoiling children is one of the worst things you can do IMHO - giving them a hideous sense of entitlement and actually setting them up for a lifetime of disappointment. IMHO, it's one of the worst crimes of parenthood.

There are levels of spoiling of course - for me - an equally bad form of spoiling is to assume that your child couldn't possibly get less than a dozen 'A Stars' in the 'O' levels. I don't see Helen's parents being much worse than those parents. At least Helen has gone out and made a living for herself since she was about 9 years old.

But any form of spoiling with kindness is better than beating your child to death (or letting your partner do so), neglecting your child, starving your child, arranging for your child to be kidnapped, going on holiday whilst your kids are at home, etc. I could go on and on.

But Helen freely admits she can't do anything for herself; she doesn't do any cleaning, she gets her hair blow dried professionally at great cost every few days because she can't do it herself. She has an extreme lack of self awareness and emotional intelligence and IMHO that's because she was mollycoddled and spoilt by her idiot parents who have created a monster - she really is incredibly selfish.

& yes, beating and starving is of course worse - but again, if those are the only 2 yardsticks with which we judge parenting with no middle ground, then it seems a pretty pointless debate...

Jeez. Get a sense of perspective will you. This is just some ditzy ex-soap star we're talking about not a serial killer.

I think she is monstrously selfish - hence the terminology. If it offends you then so be it.

Lets go crying to the media and get lots of attention.

The minute they put themselves out there and made their opinions open for all to hear, they put themselves up for scrunity. Sorry but if Helen was my daughter I'd be embarrassed how she's turned out to be a pathetic crybaby and you can't blame anyone else but the parents for condoning it and allowing her to be like this. They all need to get a grip and grow up.

The apple never falls far from the tree, does it?”

You seem to have an awful lot to say about parenting skills. No one is perfect, that includes you. You say no-one forced Helen's parents to go on the show, what did you expect them to do, stay at home and let the girl exit the jungle with no-one to have a welcoming hug from?

You say they did'nt have to go to the media to stick up for their daughters behaviour.....what did you expect them to do, just toss her aside and say she was a little madam, no parent would do that. Rightly or wrongly, her parents are there for her, that is what being a parent it about.
Our kids don't always turn out how we envisage, some of the most strictest parents have had kids turn out much worse than Helen, she is'nt an axe murderer, she is'nt nasty, just a little spoilt, she's hurting no-one.

Personally I find celebrities who find aggressive ways of avoiding tax more selfish! But perhaps it is just me. I mean - it would be churlish to deprive a celebrity the necessity of a new snooker table or swimming pool when a hospital could have a new children's ward is far further down the pecking order.

It depends what each of us call 'selfish'.

You keep negating my points with completely arbitary examples that really aren't comparable.

Yes - there are differing degrees of selfishness, and, as it goes, I am not especially enamoured with tax dodgers either, but that doesn't detract from the fact that I find Helen Flanagan incredibly selfish: She is a silly, clueless woman who has never had to lift a finger for herself and showed a complete lack of empathy to her fellow contestants on the show. She is immature, fatuous and lives in cloud cuckoo land.

Just to reiterate:

No, she is not a murderer.

Yes, her parents spoilt her but didn't neglect her or starve her.

Yes, she is selfish but Jimmy Carr and Chris Moyles are probably more selfish.

Looks like she's still trying to be noticed.

Well, her agent & PR company is trying anyway.

Wow she went out with her boyfriend, how could she. Funny how people are calling her when she was the one who noticed when people were upset Rosemary, Nadine, Lynda, Hugo etc. So she couldn t do the trails [if she had put herself forward I could understand people being annoyed with her but she didn t, the public did]

And they nearly all seem happy with their weight loss anyway! Some of them needed to lose a few pounds!

Just to stir the pot a bit, I've just come back from the filming of a new BBC comedy quiz show, where Ms Flanagan was a guest star.
Interesting to see her in the flesh after being addicted to this years series of "celeb".

You'll be glad to know;
1) She still kept patting her lips inbetween takes
2) She wore the tightest and smallest pair of shorts that I have EVER seen, which Frank Skinner made a running joke out of.
3) She tottered about on high heels and complained that her feet were hurting.
4) She admitted that she STILL sends her towels to be dry-cleaned and spray-tans every other day.
5) She has that curious vacant expression in "real life", and seemed to be fascinated by her own face on the monitors.

Just saying ...
