I know it's become popular to knock him for his infamous Batman 'growl' but Christian Bale is my favourite.

I grew up with the Keaton films and the animated series as a kid and became fond of those portrayals. But it wasn't until Bale/Nolan's interpretation of the character where I went 'this is my definitive Batman'. In terms of the cinematic portrayals, Bale's portrayal was the first where I believed that this guy (Bruce Wayne) would go to great lengths to be Batman. Plus it also helped from Bale's physicality that you believed he could take down criminals.

So who played your favourite Batman

Kevin Conroy if you count his animated Batman. But you haven't said who's your favourite

Mr Bale but, at the risk of antagonising the purists, I have a soft spot for Adam West's take on it too.

Bale.

There's another Batman who, understandably, no one has even contemplated yet. Actor Lewis Wilson who played Batman/Bruce Wayne in the mostly forgotten 1943 serial (15 of them). I haven't even watched it myself but it's on YouTube and I think I'll have a go at it tonight.

Tendulkar and Lara surely lead the way among the moderns, but Bradman has to be the best ever.

Kevin Conroy. Just isn't the same when he doesn't provide the voice for him in the animations.

I'm sure others will disagree with me but I believe the
3 seasons of the animated series before they changed the style were the best on screen version of the character so far.

A bloke in an elaborate costume fighting criminals in their own striking costumes, it has to be Adam West. I quite like the Batman films, but it's hard to take them too seriously, and thankfully Adam West's Batman doesn't either.

When I first heard that Michael Keaton was playing Batman I thought Tim Burton was mad.

Now I think it was an excellent choice as imo he has the perfect eyes and jaw for the mask.
