The sound levels are very high during commercial breaks compared to the programmes.
Agree, needs to be sorted

I just switched it on and it's got a thumping great mm in the middle of the screen! I could never watch a film like that.

Whenever I've looked at the channel it was largely teleshopping, and it seems that the mandate for the channel is teleshopping with the odd film thrown in for good measure obscured by a large on-screen dog.

I've deleted it from the channel lists on my kit. Freeview needs better than cr*p like that, IMHO. Not that we'll get it.

It WAS a teleshopping channel before, now it carries the content of More>Movies, a channel owned by Sony Pictures Television. Basically Movies and TV series such as Guardian and Baywatch. Teleshopping is now limited to overnight, similar to most other channels.

It's changed as of Thursday. It's now carrying the same schedule as the satellite channel "More Movies" with MovieMix branding. Teleshopping only runs overnight/early morning. Might be worth another look now...

If it was in the middle of the screen they were probably showing promos for films they will be showing in the near future.

"tucked away in the top left corner" is the last thing that DOG could be accused of being! It is atrocious, way over to the right and down the screen, completely unacceptable and quite literally the only thing I see on the screen. Ridiculous.

Totally agree, the DOG's escaped its lead This situation is especially bad when Columbia films are shown as the dog covers the top of the "C". Very amateur looking but the odd good film and a welcome addition to Freeview.

Why not unless they live at the other end of the country? Or judge for yourself here (Same schedule as More>Moves as reported earlier on in this thread).

Probably, it's not too bad if you don't mind the large logo and loud adverts.

OK, you probably do have a point, it is a bit further down & quite a bit further to the right than the CBS Action & Challenge DOGs, screenshot comparisons:

more>movies vs CBS Action

more>movies vs challenge

complain here

Well here's Movie Mix, which is even worse.

It's either because they were trying to sneak in a "channel morph" from Big Deal to more>movies:
1. Big Deal - teleshopping
2. Movie Mix - mostly teleshopping with a movie
3. Movie Mix - mostly movies with teleshopping

If they'd changed to more>movies when Men&Movies rebranded to that, it would have looked like it wasn't a organic transition from Big Deal.

OR it's because Movie Mix is being run by Square1 under licence from Sony.

OR it might be a combination of the two, with the final stage being Movie Mix being transferred to Sony and then rebranded as more>movies.

Either way it's a convoluted way of securing a better EPG position.

It isn't that bad.

Yet more overreactions over something so petty

Oh for goodness sake, what sort of eyesight have you? I could never watch a programme that had been so degraded. Petty? Unbelievable.

There's an awful lot of channels with ridiculously large DOGs around which people actually pay extra to watch. Maybe viewers should complain more, not that it will make any difference.

It will be interesting to see if the licence has actually changed hands.

The details of this channel on the Freeview website could use an update:

The Big Deal is a live interactive quiz programme that gives you the chance to win prizes from the comfort of your own armchair.

You'll be able to watch and play along with The Big Deal 7 days a week on Freeview channel 37 from 10pm until 5am.

Each night The Big Deal presenters will invite home viewers to participate in an array of games and puzzles.

Visit the The Big Deal web site

I have re-scanned my Philips TV yesterday and got Movie Mix. I like it. But when I switched on again today it went back to Big Deal and had no signal. Re-scanned and it came back - switched to standby and then back on and got Big Deal back with no signal! What is going on?

At the moment Ofcom has no information about the licence for the channel being transferred from Square 1 Management Limited. If Square 1 still hold the licence, they would be the point of contact, emailing Sony will be pointless.

Big Deal was on the COM6 Mux for a while after DSO, before Al Jazeera started full time operations ,it then moved back to COM5. It's possible that your TV hasn't erased the old channel details. Try a full scan / new installation scan rather than just scanning for new channels.
