They should have launched both Surface tabs at the same time IMO. I'm waiting and waiting for the Pro release but I am getting a bit peeded off now hanging around waiting.

I'm very happy with W8, I like the metro interface, works fine on my desktop and I'm sure its great on a touch screen but I'm not happy with the way MS have handled the launch world wide.

Eurogamer has done a review on the pro

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...ace-pro-review

Says the battery will only last 90 mins for pc games and about 5 hours for general use.

For those of us waiting for haswell -

"Surface Pro clearly has its issues, but then so do many first-generation products. Despite the problems, it remains a compelling piece of hardware, offering a tantalising preview of the future of tablet technology. It's also clear that Microsoft and Intel working in tandem have much to offer. For its part, the chip maker is already working on improving power efficiency and GPU performance. Its next-gen offering - codenamed Haswell, due later this year - is said to offer a 2x improvement in graphics performance over Intel HD 4000 and a 10-15 per cent boost in CPU power to boot, while also offering sleep mode support along the lines of the current mobile processors. This first-gen tablet pleasantly surprised us with its gaming power - a second-generation Surface Pro based on Haswell should at least bring us up to par with Xbox 360 from a games perspective, while hopefully delivering improved battery life over what we see here."

Microsoft were giving away 1000s of Surface RT 64G tablets at a trade show I was at last week.

For free, I can't complain, but at nearly £500, I'd have been very disappointed. Too many problems to list, but for the same money, you could buy a much more useful laptop. Or for less money, you can buy a much better tablet. It seems to fall between the two and does both jobs badly.

They may have looked a bit desperate, giving away approx 3000 tablets to a bunch of Telecom Managers as they registered, but they weren't so desperate that they would give us more than one each.

Although, on the last day of the show, they were reminding people over the tanoy to collect their Surfaces, so they must have been left with a few.

Literally couldn't give them away!

That's silly, for free I'd take anything, you can flog it for a few quid if nothing else.

The surface pro is coming out 5 months too late for me Haswell is due to be announced for 3/6 and hopefully have some ultrabooks and tablets available to order straight away. MS should just of done a zune with the pro and kept it in the usa but launched a pro 2, haswell edition for the europeans Cant wait anyway, been wanting to buy a tablet/laptop since last summer.

I wouldn't expect to see a Surface Pro with Haswell in the UK until 2014.

Also, there is no indication that the RT and Pro are going to be product lines that are iterated like the iPad.

There will be more Surface products in the future but it could be other kinds of "design points" as Ballmer calls it, there is no guarantee of Surface Pro 2 or Surface RT 2.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Surface Pro in real life. Who will be selling it? Will it be exclusive to John Lewis?

There are never any guarentees of any future products from any manufacturer.

From what I heard Surface Pro is doing quite well in US. Also W8.1 is coming, they may need another how-to device to show off new features. If they decide to create a 2nd gen Surface Pro they will do well, I think.

I'm American and I have yet to run into someone here with a Surface Pro, and I'm often around many people with different computing devices.

Its not surprising you've not seen any. It looks like they have about 2% of current sales, so given that everyone else has had a huge head start, I'd guess at less than 1% of the units on the streets.

Even if your figures are correct I would still see them, and I simply haven't seen them.

1) They aren't my figures.
2) The figures are for all Surfaces, not just Pro, so a further reduction in market share needs to be applied.
3) I've re-read the article, and the figures are for "shipments", not sales. It might be that the Surface's are staying on the shelf.

In addition, there have been reports of large numbers of Surface RT tablets being returned when purchasers discovered that it couldn't run Windows EXE programs.

For what it's worth the Pro is now available at MS store for £719.00 and £799.00 without cover.

Far too expensive in my opinion.

Compare it to ultrabooks like Samsung Series 9 (~ £1000?) not tablets. It's a full W8 Pro, state of the art device.

The devices are so different, I don't see how they can be compared. The most obvious differences are the 15" screen and the number of ports on the Samsung.

But if you are in the majority, the Surface will fly off the shelves. If I'm in the majority, we'll see this sink without trace or have huge price cuts (and I may get a free one in a year like I got my free Surface RT last week).

I suspect many people will, perhaps unfairly, compare the Surface Pro with the Nexus 10 or the 10" iPad and draw the obvious conclusion.

MacBook Air 11'', Asus Zenbook 11'' then? There are 13'' Samsungs as well.
