Rhys' Exit on Neighbours...
I think it could be to do with his Mum actually dying...

a spoiler pic on FB shows some of the cast on the hospital set with Sancia Robinson who plays his Mum Elaine amongst the cast...

OP, why do you assume it's Elaine that dies just b/c she's at the hospital? It could easily be Rhys who's in hospital and Elaine is there to be with her son...
