Exciting, pipping someone at the post, the best way to win.

More like the less deserving way to win

Ah jeeze that is so frustrating! I'd rather Ashley stood no chance than it be that close!

Will it change Charlie's career prospects I wonder. Not in terms of acting, probably.

It;s not about who won or who lost, really, is it. It's about how someone won at the last minute when the other person had topped 4 or 5 of the previous polls. Various reasons as people have said...viewers who only Kiki and also viewers who watched only the final but didn't know who Ashley was.

So it wasn;t about what went on in the jungle really.

Was close for the whole series, Helen rosemary Hugo all out within a whisker of someone.

Id say so.

Look at how close Charlie was to actually being eliminated in votes 5 and 6.

The weeks leading up until the final Ashley 'shoulda wunnit' Roberts should have walked it.

I think that the 'Kiki effect' was instrumental, but Charlie was also probably stronger in her own right than Ashley on the day of the final.

So I'd say that Kiki helped her to the final, but on the day of the final itself Charlie probably edged it slightly over Ashley. Or the edits made it seem that way at least.

Timing was the key here.

And it's a surprise to find that Charlie was in the bottom two twice.

Technically 3 times if you count the semi-final. But i won't for obvious reasons.

Ugh I'm slightly pissed haha! Ashley was gearing up to win and then pipped at the very last minute. She was clear favourite from half way through the vote offs

So that 30 seconds where Kiki came on to hug Charlie did help

Gutted for Ashley!

First winner to have been bottom two? And lots of fake "it might be you" this year

Holy crap at how well Ashley was doing all the way through! She dominated until probably the last minutes of the final when the final surge of votes came for Charlie. So annoying that we just needed to vote a little bit more and she would have been the first ever US winner of a reality show in this country.

Excluding the first time Ashley was up, Ashley built on her popularity and was the only one to do so, from the 3rd vote off, all the way up until the final.

Lets face it though, before this programme hardly anyone knew who Ashley was, and yet she only lost by a fraction to someone from one of the most watched programmes in the country. To me thats a great achievement and was mainly done by her own personality

Why don't they state how many votes they received? That would be very useful information.

Biggins, Phil, Dougie and Matt all had been in the B2 too.

So true. I don't have a problem with Charlie she's a nice girl but I can't help thinking the true winner was Ashley.

That said when the show first started I thought Ashley would be one of the first to go as she was less well known than almost everyone else in camp. Well done her.

You reckon? So one per cent is quite a few votes then (I can't do the math).

Apparently xfactor 2010 (series) saw 15,000,000 votes cast overall (http://www.beehivecity.com/televisio...lysis11181723/).

I would imagine IAC has lower voting turnout, I would say 10,000,000 overall; with the majority backed into the final (voting numbers increasing as the show progresses).

I'd say about 10,000,000 overall, 3,000,000 in the final (possibly a bit less) is a reasonable guess.

So yes, it's a large gap in terms of actual votes placed but it is %'s that count given the number of viewers and multi-voting (1 vote is not 1 person).

Btw a 1% gap is easy to do the maths on... Just divide total votes by 100... 3,000,000 votes total would be a 30,000 vote gap.

Hmm, just like last year, I wonder how different the result would have been if the last day involved the final 3 and not just final 2.
